He established that turf back in the ’40s — the way he’s running his companies, dealing with the SEC, the government, politics, Hollywood, and investors. That was our rock-star industrialist model for Tony Stark. But Howard Hughes — I think people don’t know who the hell that is. Back in the early 2000s, when we were saying, “Who would be the Howard Hughes of now? Who’s an industrialist who would also be on the gossip pages? A large portion of teachers employed in Texas are considering leaving their jobs positions in education. According to a survey conducted by the Texas State Teacher's Association in the second quarter of 2022 , 70% of the teachers surveyed said they were considering quitting. About 688 teachers who are members of the TSTA participated in the questionnaire. That's the highest percentage the survey has ever recorded since its conception. In 2018, before the onset of the coronavirus pandemic and back-to-back school years featuring a mix of remote and hybrid learning, just over half of the teachers surveyed had the same response. “Lingering stress from the pandemic is a factor, but it isn’t the only one," said TSTA President Ovidia Molina. "Inadequate pay, political attacks on educators and the failure of state leaders to protect the health and safety of students and school employees also have combined to drive down the morale of teachers to the lowest level in recent memory and … [Read more...] about Survey: 70% of Texas teachers are considering quitting their jobs

Seven-out-of-ten Republicans favor reduced illegal and legal immigration, and GOP voters are evenly split over whether immigration is good or bad for the nation, according to a new Gallup poll. “Republicans’ Desire for Less Immigration Has Surged Since 2020 … The mounting desire for decreased immigration in recent years has been driven mainly by Republicans, whose preference for reducing immigration is [at 69 percent,] up 21 points since June 2020, when 48% expressed this,” Gallup reported on August 8 . Opposition to migration has nudged up among Democrats and independents, said the survey, which showed “a five-point increase among independents, to 33%, and a four-point increase among Democrats, to 17%.” The GOP’s growing skepticism about migration reflects the growing polarization since 2o12 when a growing share of “woke” Democrats began to embrace migration.
