La Crosse - Three years ago, La Crosse County won a national award that local leaders could use for any project aimed at improving health. Instead of providing free flu shots or eye exams, organizers put the $10,000 toward something else: Working with two schools to stabilize families on the brink of enrolling their children elsewhere. Even fewer are addressing it as a community health issue. But the results in La Crosse yielded few comforting takeaways. Families were impoverished or homeless. Parents struggled with addiction. Children landed in emergency shelters or foster care. “Dealing with student mobility is like trying to fix bad health habits,” said Catherine Kolkmeier, executive director of the La Crosse Medical Health Science Consortium. “It’s like telling someone who’s massively stressed not … [Read more...] about A Wisconsin city tackled school turnover like a health crisis. Scott Venci Green Bay Press-Gazette Published 6:26 PM EDT Oct 16, 2018 Whether it’s football or baseball, doesn’t matter. Everyone hates Joe Buck. With the team in the National League Championship Series, Wisconsin sports fans are being force fed another helping of Buck. But at least with social media, everyone can share each other’s pain this week. “My disdain for Joe Buck is in full force,” a user named Crystal Hayes wrote on Twitter. “One out and mute.” A three-hour game could be played out in the time it would take to read the pages and pages of anti-Buck comments on Twitter, Facebook or even Instagram. None of this is news to Buck, of course. "It's kind of the world I live in," Buck said on a podcast before the Chicago Cubs played the Cleveland Indians … [Read more...] about Wisconsin fans hate Fox’s Joe Buck, even when he’s calling baseball
