(AP) — A single-engine airplane landed and caught fire Tuesday on a Southern California freeway and the pilot and a passenger were able to escape safely, authorities said. The Piper PA-32 was flying to Corona Municipal Airport when the pilot reported engine trouble and landed in eastbound lanes of State Route 91 in Riverside County, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. Local TV news showed footage of the plane upright but engulfed in flames on the freeway near Corona. No injuries were reported. The pilot, Andrew Cho, told the Southern California News Group that he and his passenger had time to get out before the flames spread. The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced Monday that a Houston nurse is facing six counts of murder in Los Angeles County following a fiery car crash that killed five people, one of whom was a pregnant woman, KHOU reported . Nicole Linton, 37, is also facing five counts of vehicular manslaughter; the DA's office did not file a manslaughter charge for the unborn fetus. Linton faces up to 90 years in prison or a life sentence if convicted on all charges. Prosecutors said Linton was driving her Mercedes-Benz around 90 mph last Thursday when she ran a red light and collided with several cars at an intersection about 10 miles south of downtown Los Angeles. The video of the crash shows that Linton's car caught fire upon impact before slamming into a metal pole. Asherey Ryan, 23, her 11-month-old son Alonzo Quintero and her boyfriend Reynold Lester were all killed in the crash, according to KHOU. Authorities are investigating the disappearance of sixteen-year-old Kiely Rodni from a campground in Truckee as an abduction, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office told FOX40 . Rodni was last seen during a large gathering at the Prosser Family Campground in Truckee around 12:30 a.m. Saturday. The Sheriff’s office told the television station it is treating the disappearance as an abduction because it has not yet located Rodni’s vehicle — a silver 2013 Honda CRV.
