Ted Cruz Walks Away from ‘Anti-Israel Propagandists’ Sky News Reporter
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) walked away from a taunting Sky News reporter who has blamed “Jewish hate” incidents in the UK on Israel. Mark Stone, who was dubbed the “anti-Israel propagandists” for giving a platform to the cofounder of Hamas, demanded Ted Cruz answer why gun violence is “only in America.” “If you want to stop violent crime, the proposals the Democrats have, none of them would have stopped this,” Cruz answered Stone. “But why does this only happen in your country?” Stone continued. “I really think that’s what many people around the world, just, they cannot fathom. Why only in America? Why is this American exceptionalism so awful?” “You know what? You’ve got your political agenda. God love you,” Cruz said before walking away from Stone. Stone continued to follow Cruz around the room but Cruz would no longer acknowledge Stone’s questions. Stone’s assertion that mass shootings are a uniquely American problem is not accurate, according to Newsweek on … [Read more...] about Ted Cruz Walks Away from ‘Anti-Israel Propagandists’ Sky News Reporter

Many back strict gun laws, but opposition tends to be louder
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 7 WASHINGTON (AP) — Majorities of U.S. adults think mass shootings would occur less often if guns were harder to get, and that schools and other public places have become less safe than they were two decades ago, polling shows. Still, public attitudes on guns and gun policy are complicated, and the issue has seen little by way of federal legislative changes in more than a decade. In the wake of Tuesday’s massacre at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, Democratic governors and lawmakers are pleading for gun restrictions. Reforms will meet Republican resistance both in Congress and state legislatures and are unlikely to advance. While it’s not unusual for polling to show higher support for restrictions among the general public after a mass shooting, attitudes on gun regulation are overall rather stable over time, said John Roman, senior fellow at NORC at the … [Read more...] about Many back strict gun laws, but opposition tends to be louder
‘Not a pundit,’ Biden ignores impeachment trial to focus on his priorities
WASHINGTON — As former President Trump’s second impeachment trial opened Tuesday, the White House press secretary made it clear in the briefing room — three times — that President Biden had nothing to say about it. “Joe Biden is the president. He’s not a pundit,” Jen Psaki told the 14 reporters seated before her. “He’s not going to opine on the back-and-forth arguments in the Senate, nor is he watching them.” Biden echoed that assertion moments later as he sat in the Oval Office to discuss his top priority, a $1.9-trillion coronavirus relief package, with a group of business leaders. A day later when Psaki appeared in the briefing room, reporters pressed her about Biden’s refusal to comment on the “historic” events occurring in the Senate. One, seemingly incredulous, asked just how the public “should interpret his silence?” “The American public,” Psaki said, “should read it as his commitment on delivering on exactly what they elected him to do, which is not to be a commentator … [Read more...] about ‘Not a pundit,’ Biden ignores impeachment trial to focus on his priorities
Biden White House seeks to turn page on Trump, focus on legislative priorities
WASHINGTON — The end of former President Trump’s impeachment trial opens a new chapter for his successor in the White House. But while President Biden and his team are eager to move past the impeachment, the bitterly partisan tone of the proceedings underscores the deep challenges ahead as the president and his party try to push forward their agenda and address historic crises. Biden, who was at the Camp David presidential retreat when the Senate voted Saturday to acquit Trump, had acknowledged that Democrats needed to hold the former president responsible for the siege of the U.S. Capitol but did not welcome the way it distracted from his agenda. The trial ended with every Democrat and seven Republicans voting to convict Trump, but the 57-43 vote was far from the two-thirds threshold required for conviction. Whether the seven GOP votes against Trump offered Biden any new hope for bipartisan cooperation within Congress remained an open question. In a statement, Biden … [Read more...] about Biden White House seeks to turn page on Trump, focus on legislative priorities
