PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A tragic crash happened in Northeast Philadelphia. An off-duty Philadelphia police officer going home from work was killed in a violent crash Thursday night. Officers described the scene as a t-bone accident with tragic results. They say a BMW was heading south on Bustleton Avenue when it collided with the passenger side of a Hyundai sedan. When they got to the scene, they found a 50-year-old man unconscious in his Hyundai sedan. They say his car was hit on the passenger side by a BMW driven by an 18-year-old, who also had a 16 and a 17 year-old in the car at the time. James Sanders was struck near 44th and Parrish Streets in West Philadelphia Wednesday night shortly before 11 p.m. “I just can’t even imagine him laying out there like that,” said Sara Sanders, the victim’s grandmother. PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Philadelphia police are asking for the public’s help identifying the suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of an elderly man out on a morning walk on Tuesday. Police say 77-year-old Loi Nguyen was shot and killed steps away from his home while finishing up his daily walk on the 4200 block of L Street Tuesday morning. Police have released surveillance video from the shooting in hopes of identifying the suspect.
