Eighty-six Democrats voted against a resolution introduced by House Republicans on Thursday aimed at “denouncing the horrors of socialism.” The nay-saying democrats , including Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, and Jim McGovern of Massachusetts opposed the resolution decrying the death tolls and famines from communist regimes, such as the USSR and North Korea. The resolution passed with 328 “yeas.” “New Dems reject socialism — period. It’s time for House Republicans to stop playing political games and join our Members as we work to grow an economy that works for all Americans,” the New Democrat Coalition tweeted Wednesday in response to the bill. McGovern called the resolution “useless,” “stupid,” and said it was “about dividing people,” he stated on the House floor. He further alleged that the resolution was meant as a “distraction.” “Make no mistake; these are Fox News talking points, Tucker … [Read more...] about 86 Democrats Vote Against ‘Denouncing The Horrors Of Socialism’

close Video Ocasio-Cortez slaps notebook against podium in frustration over Ilhan Omar committee ouster vote Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was fired up over a GOP-led vote to oust her ally Ilhan Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee, suggesting it was a racist campaign against 'women of color.' California weighs making flag football a girls’ school sport
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 6 California officials are considering a plan to make flag football a girls' high school sport amid soaring popularity of the game and a push to get more female athletes on the field. The federated council of the California Interscholastic Federation — the statewide body that governs high school athletics — is expected to vote Friday on the plan at a meeting in Long Beach. If the measure passes, flag football would be an official high school sport for girls in the nation's most populous state for the upcoming 2023-24 year. Paula Hart Rodas, president-elect of the CIF Southern Section’s council, said the goal is to get more girls involved in high school sports and tap into a widespread love of football by many who are loath to play tackle. The top two finishers will likely face each other in a runoff election a week later. Some 561,000 citizens are eligible to vote. Averof Neophytou, 61, who took over the leadership of the country’s Democratic Rally party from Anastasiades, doubled down on his "safe choice" campaign theme, portraying himself as a steady hand with a surfeit of experience who can get things done. “I’ve also understood that those who profess to usher … [Read more...] about Cyprus presidential candidates push leadership credentials
