CLAIM: President Donald Trump says he helped stop a number of Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) workers from having their jobs outsourced to foreign H-1B visa workers. VERDICT: True. “When I learned that the Tennessee Valley Authority laid off hundreds of American workers and forced them to train their lower-paid foreign replacements, I promptly removed the Chairman of the Board,” Trump said. “And now, those talented American workers have been re-hired and are back providing power to Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, and Virginia.” “They have their old jobs back,” he said. Trump recently took major action against the federally-owned Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) for their outsourcing plans whereby executives were laying off American employees but forcing them to train their foreign replacements beforehand. After pressure from Trump and his firing of the chairman, Skip Thompson, TVA officials said they are dropping the outsourcing plans … [Read more...] about Fact Check: Trump Saved TVA Workers’ Jobs from Being Outsourced

White House Official: Biden’s Migration Is an Economic Strategy
A senior official in the White House says President Joe Biden’s immigration policy is intended to fill new jobs in government spending programs, high-tech firms, and a growing economy. “We are creating new jobs this year as we’re breaking ground on key infrastructure projects under the President’s bipartisan infrastructure law , the CHIPS and Science Act , [and] new green jobs as we implement the Inflation Reduction Act ,” said Katie Tobin, the senior director for transborder security on the National Security Council, adding : As our economy grows, we need workers that we just don’t have enough of. So it is in our interest to bring people in and to stay competitive globally. “In closing,” Tobin said on May 15, “the Biden-Harris administration appreciates both the moral responsibility and the strategic opportunity that migration presents — it’s at the heart of our domestic and our foreign policy agendas.” Tobin’s stealth policy of government-accelerated economic … [Read more...] about White House Official: Biden’s Migration Is an Economic Strategy
Donald Trump’s 2020 Campaign Unveils Immigration, Labor Promises
President Donald Trump’s second-term agenda on migration and work is short and lacks details, but it is far better than the expansive and detailed cheap-labor promises from Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden. If reelected, Trump will “Prohibit American Companies from Replacing United States Citizens with Lower-Cost Foreign Workers,” says the short plan. “It is short and a lot less than we would live to see, but compared to the Democrat’ plan, it is great,” said Rosemary Jenks, policy director at NumbersUSA. “This is clearly a campaign document, said Jenks. It shows “they are targeting issues based on the demographics they are trying to reach.” “They could have done more, so it is disappointing,” said Jessica Vaughan, director of policy studies at the Center for Immigration Studies. But the campaign document shows that Trump and his deputies know that opposition to cheap-labor migration is a vote-winner, said Vaughan. “It is an acknowledgment that this a major problem — … [Read more...] about Donald Trump’s 2020 Campaign Unveils Immigration, Labor Promises
New Amnesty Bill Seeks to Flood Americans’ White-Collar Labor Market
Several GOP legislators have joined with Democrats to push a draft migration and amnesty bill that supercharges the flow of foreign visa workers into the white-collar careers sought by many striving U.S. graduates. Three GOP legislators have endorsed the combined amnesty and visa worker giveaway: Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY), Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R-OR), and Rep. María Elvira Salazar (R-FL). Alongside the amnesty for many millions of blue-collar migrants, “What they’re doing is further deflating wages of white-collar workers,” said Kevin Lynn, founder of U.S. Tech Workers, an advocacy group for U.S. graduates, adding: It’s another race to the bottom … No-one [in the establishment] seems to care that in the medical profession, and in all the other white-collar professions, wages are being deflated as people are being muscled out of jobs by the [visa worker] migrants. The visa worker giveaway is hidden in Section 51312 , on page 490 of the 493-page bill, under the obscure … [Read more...] about New Amnesty Bill Seeks to Flood Americans’ White-Collar Labor Market
Yoder’s Green-Card Giveaway Will Expand Bias Against U.S. College-Grads, Say American Professionals
American college-graduates are urging the House Committee on Rules to block GOP Rep. Kevin Yoder’s “country caps” appropriations legislation, saying it will widen discrimination against Americans and expand the outsourcing of U.S. college-grad jobs to Indian visa-workers. “Today we have [workplaces] all across the country that are virtually 100 percent Indian,” said Robert Heath, a software professional who now runs the H1BFacts.com website. Yoder’s amendment “would be worse — it would be ethnic cleansing of U.S. workers from the [science and technology] professions.” “We’re all scared because if H.R. 392 passes, if they get green cards, the discrimination will become rampant,” said Stephen Pushor, a retired programmer in Virginia. The anti-American bias is already widespread in the software sector, and it sidelines many younger and middle-aged American professionals, he said. Yoder’s country cap amendment would open up a fast-track to green cards for up to 300,000 Indian … [Read more...] about Yoder’s Green-Card Giveaway Will Expand Bias Against U.S. College-Grads, Say American Professionals
Obama Announces Unilateral Action To Bring In More Guest Workers
President Barack Obama plans to take unilateral action to “make it easier” for global companies to send guest workers to the United States, he announced Monday. The action could benefit “hundreds of thousands” of new guest workers, who would be competing with American workers for jobs. “My administration is going to reform the L-1B visa category, which allows corporations to temporarily move workers from a foreign office to a U.S. office in a faster, simpler way,” he said in a speech Monday to a global investors summit at the Gaylord National Convention Center in Maryland. “And this could benefit hundreds of thousands of nonimmigrant workers and their employers.” The L-1B visa allows foreign companies who plan to start an office in the U.S. to send “specialized knowledge employees” to the states for between 3 and 7 years to start an office. And it allows U.S. companies with foreign offices to transfer workers from those offices to offices in the states. The stated goal of the … [Read more...] about Obama Announces Unilateral Action To Bring In More Guest Workers
