Tiffany Razzano , Patch Staff Posted | Updated Reply BRADENTON, FL — Three girls were injured when they were hit by a pick-up truck in Bradenton on Thursday afternoon, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release. The girls — 15, 11 and 9 years old — ran across 15th Street East into the path of the truck near the 33rd Avenue Drive East intersection around 4:30 p.m., FHP said. The driver tried to avoid hitting the children, steering the truck to the right, but still hit all three in the intersection, the agency said. The truck drove off the road to the right, onto the grass shoulder, and hit a mailbox before stopping. Tiffany Razzano , Patch Staff Posted Replies MYAKKA CITY, FL — An SUV driver died early Monday morning after hitting a cow that wandered onto State Road 70 in Myakka City, Florida Highway Patrol said. The driver, a 62-year-old man from Labelle, was heading north on State Road 70, near Betts Road, around 1:30 a.m. when the car walked into his path, the agency said. After hitting the cow, the SUV overturned and the driver was thrown from the vehicle, FHP said. He was brought to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Tiffany Razzano , Patch Staff Posted Replies MANATEE COUNTY, FL — An 80-year-old Bradenton woman was killed in a wrong-way crash early New Year’s Day, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release. A 36-year-old Tampa woman faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence manslaughter, driving with a suspended or revoked license causing death, driving under the influence property damage and injury, and reckless driving. She was driving north on U.S. Highway 41 in the southbound lane, north of Buckeye Road, around 3:30 a.m., FHP said. Around that time, a Jeep, driven by a 58-year-old Sarasota man, was driving south on U.S. 41 in the southbound lane. Tiffany Razzano , Patch Staff Posted Reply BRADENTON, FL — A Bradenton man died after being hit by two vehicles while crossing U.S. 41 in Manatee County Monday night, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release. The 59-year-old was trying to cross the southbound lanes at 51st Avenue Drive W. around 9 p.m. at the time of the crash. As he crossed, he was hit by the front of an SUV driven by a 31-year-old Bradenton woman, FHP said. After this initial collision, he was hit by a car driven by a 79-year-old Bradenton man. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, the agency said. The crash remains under investigation. Neither driver, nor the SUV passenger — a 38-year-old Bradenton man — were injured in the crash.
