POLITICS 08/21/2018 09:17 pm ET “They’re still looking for collusion. Where is the collusion?” the president said. “Find some collusion. We want to find the collusion.” By Nick Visser and Lydia O'Connor President Donald Trump did not mention the multi-count conviction of his former campaign chairman Paul Manafort nor the guilty plea by his former personal attorney Michael Cohen during a rally Tuesday in West Virginia that lasted more than an hour. Instead, the president focused on his 2016 election, praised Republican Gov. Jim Justice as “the largest, most beautiful man” and insisted that there was no “collusion” during the presidential campaign. “They’re still looking for collusion. Where is the collusion?” Trump said at the Charleston, West Virginia, event. “Find some collusion. We want to find the collusion.” The president ignored the day’s two biggest news events. After eight surgeries, including four procedures done on his back since 2014, 41-year-old Tiger Woods injected some uncharacteristic humor in his response to a question about whether he thought his body would ever be back to 100 percent healthy again. And if he does get to that stage, could Woods return to being the best golfer on the planet, like he was in his 20s? "Anybody in here who is in their 40s ever going to feel like they did in their 20s? Huh? Seriously?" Woods asked the media throng Wednesday, as laughter erupted in the enclosed tent at the Presidents Cup press conference. "I don't know what 100 percent means after eight surgeries, but I'll try and get as close as I can to that number. But as I said, we just take it one step at a time. It's a process, and I'm in no hurry. As far as my health, I'm feeling great." Woods, a 14-time major champion and the former world No. 1 player, is an assistant captain for the U.S. Team in the Presidents Cup tournament that … [Read more...] about Tiger Woods says he doesn’t know what his future holds as he continues to rehab from surgeries
President Trump wants that guy running for the Alabama Senate to lose, whoever he is. Trump on Monday admitted he doesn’t “know that much” about Roy Moore, the former judge who will face off against incumbent Sen. Luther Strange in a special primary election Tuesday. As if to prove his point, Trump twice got Moore’s first name wrong and called him “Ray.” “Ray will have a hard time,” Trump told the Birmingham-based “Rick and Bubba Show” in a rare radio interview. “If Luther wins, the Democrats will hardly fight. If Ray wins, (Democrats) will pour in $30 million.” Co-host Rick Burgess twice corrected Trump on the challenger’s name. But Trump seemed to suggest it’s Moore’s fault for not making an impression on him, because it’s “not a good sign” when the President can’t recall your name. “I don't know that much about Roy … [Read more...] about President Trump admits he doesn’t ‘know that much’ about Alabama Senate contender Roy Moore, gets his name wrong in interview
In a campaign that gets uglier with each news cycle, Hillary Clinton still goes up against a dream candidate in Donald Trump, one who has thrown in with the worst elements of Right Wing America, and who will clearly say and do just about anything to get elected. In Detroit over the weekend that included turning himself into a television evangelist. So it was a religious second coming, just of the Rev. Ike. Clinton is not up against a rock star like Barack Obama this time, she is up against the candidate of a wall that he keeps insisting Mexico will pay for, and Muslim bans, and mass deportations; a candidate who somehow thought he could treat the parents of a dead Muslim-American war hero as if they were just more pushovers on a debate stage with him; a candidate who seems to be running for President of Breitbart.com, taking advice from the likes of Rudy Giuliani, who eight years ago ran one of the dumbest campaigns for President in all of recorded history. Hillary … [Read more...] about LUPICA: Clinton’s dream opponent in Trump may turn into a nightmare if she doesn’t wake up
The tang of fall is nearly in the air. The summer is all but over. Football season is here. Are you ready for some … culture war? This war may feel unending, but it only began a little more than two years ago. During an exhibition game on Aug. 26, 2016, Colin Kaepernick, then the quarterback of my beloved San Francisco 49ers, refused to stand during the playing of the national anthem to protest police brutality against African-Americans. Soon the trend spread across the NFL. President Donald Trump, who is to rabble-rousing what Tom Brady is to passing, sensed an opening. In an interview with “Fox & Friends,” he denounced the protesting players for showing “a lack of respect for our country” and suggested “they should try [moving to] another country.” A year later, at a rally in Alabama on Sept. 22, 2017, he said, “Wouldn’t you love to see one of our NFL owners when someone disrespects our flag to say, ‘Get that son of a … [Read more...] about Why doesn’t Trump get that protest is as American as football?
