EVANSTON, Ill. (CBS) — A pair of Northwestern University alums may have created the next big thing in football training, at least when it comes to skill position players. The Seeker has some big time NFL players not only using their invention but investing in the company. George Kittle, N’Keal Harry, and Hunter Henry are just a few of the NFL stars using the Seeker – or as they nicknamed it during the pandemic, the quarantine QB. Northwestern alums Bhargav Maganti and Igor Karlicic created the device. “We had a number of NFL athletes – they were home. They weren’t able to go to their camps. Things were shut down, and they didn’t really have a way to train alone,” Maganti said. “It’s kind of like an older sibling you never had, except this one throws, you know, 60 miles an hour,” Karlicic said. Maganti and Karlicic call the Seeker the world’s first robotic quarterback. But it’s not like a robot Tom Brady. "Even though the allegations against him occurred at LSU, we take these matters very seriously at KU," Kansas athletic director Jeff Long said in a statement. "Now that we have access to this information, we will take the coming days to fully review the material and to see if any additional information is available. He was coach at LSU for 11-plus years before being fired four games into the 2016 season. The 67-year-old Miles has denied allegations he made sexual advances toward students and has said he merely sought to serve as a mentor for students who expressed an interest in pursuing careers in sports. Earlier in the day, LSU released a law firm's 148-page review of how the university has handled sexual misconduct complaints. Then-athletic director Joe Alleva's 2013 recommendation to former LSU President F. King Alexander to fire Miles is detailed in the report by the Husch Blackwell law firm. The report offers a scathing view of the resources and attention LSU has dedicated to complaints of sexual misconduct and violence against women campus-wide. 17-Year-Old Arrested In Connection To Shooting Death Of Jaylen Betschart, Police Say
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A teenager has been arrested in connection to the shooting death of 17-year-old Jaylen Betschart. Sacramento police said Betschart was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound after crashing into a pole near Granite Regional Park on Saturday afternoon. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say they are continuing to investigate this shooting and ask anyone with information about the homicide to contact the police department. Friends and teachers at Sacramento High School gathered Sunday to remember Betschart, a baseball and football player. SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A sad blues song playing from a car radio filled the air as heavy hearts stood in McClatchy Park on Sunday night to honor 17-year-old Jaylen Betschart. Friends and teachers at Sacramento High School said the baseball and football player was shot and killed in one of a series of Sacramento shootings this weekend. It’s hard to come to the reality of that,” said Domina Stamas, Jaylen’s science teacher. “I denied and denied it, and then it started hitting me,” Semaj Jessie, Jaylen’s good friend, said. This pain is also hitting the family of Makaylah Brent – a 9-year-old who was killed in a different Saturday shooting in Del Paso Heights. “And when it happens to your family, when death knocks on your door, you understand what I am saying? When it knocks on your door, are you ready? Because we’re not,” Debra Cummings, Makaylah’s cousin, said. At least three are dead and ten are injured in the four Saturday shootings being investigated by the Sacramento Police Department and the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department. Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg tweeted a statement on Sunday.
