(CBS DETROIT) — The sky will be filled with bright colors once again for the 64th annual Ford Fireworks. The show returns to downtown Detroit at about 10 p.m. on June 27 for an in-person viewing with the theme “Hey Detroit, The Sky Shines for You!” For the last two years, the show was held with no crowd at the Lake St. Clair Metropark due to COVID-19 restrictions. The Ford Fireworks can also be viewed on WDIV-TV (Local 4) beginning at 8 p.m. on June 27. TAMPA, Fla. (CW44 News At 10)– Mayor Jane Castor and Friends of the Riverwalk invite everyone to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday and the Tampa Bay Lightning during the Boom by the Bay. Friends of the Riverwalk will be host the July 4th Boat Parade, Water Ski Show (NEW this year), Poker Run, and Blessing of the Fleet as part of the Boom by the Bay festivities. James Rado, co-creator of ‘Hair,’ dies at 90
James Rado, co-creator of the groundbreaking hippie musical “Hair,” which celebrated protest, pot and free love and paved the way for the sound of rock on Broadway, has died. He was 90. Rado died Tuesday night in New York City of cardio respiratory arrest, according to friend and publicist Merle Frimark. “Hair,” which has a story and lyrics by Rado and Gerome Ragni and music by Galt MacDermot, was the first rock musical on Broadway, the first Broadway show to feature full nudity and the first to feature a same-sex kiss. Tributes came in from the theater world, including André De Shields, who tweeted “Rest in power, James Rado,” to playwright Michael R. Jackson, whose “A Strange Loop” just won the Tony Award for best new musical.
