(CBS4) – In a new ranking of the top states for millennials to live in, Colorado makes the Top 10. The Centennial State is ranked No. 10 in WalletHub’s “ 2022’s Best & Worst States for Millennials ” list. (credit: CBS) Millennials are defined as people born between 1981 and 1996. CBS News reported a few years ago that they make up nearly a quarter of the U.S. population. As part of WalletHub’s extensive study Colorado came in as the state with the third highest percentage of millennials in the country. Colorado gets high marks for economic health and quality of life. It would probably have been even higher than No. 10 overall if not for its mediocre score in the measurements for education and health. Colorado Attorney General Pushes New Law To Fight Fraud As State Doles Out Billions In Federal Aid Dollars

May 27, 2022 by denver.cbslocal.com Leave a Comment

(CBS4) – Over the last couple of years, the State of Colorado has received about $12 billion in COVID relief and $6 billion in infrastructure funding. Much of the money will be dispersed in the form of grants for everything from transportation projects to affordable housing, making it a magnet for unscrupulous businesses and nonprofits. As they concoct schemes to cheat taxpayers, Attorney General Phil Weiser is one step ahead. “When massive amounts of money get spent, there’s always fraud,” said Weiser. Where others saw promise, Weiser saw peril. His office has recovered $12 million in Medicaid fraud alone in just the last couple of years. “But other fraud, where the government is on the hook, we haven’t had any tools,” he said. That’s because Colorado is one of the few states without a False Claims Act or a civil statute that allows prosecutors to recover tax dollars. Weiser can file criminal charges in some cases, but the standard of proof can be high.
