It’s been 30 years since the release of Erasure’s third album “The Innocents,” the disc that aided the duo of gay vocalist Andy Bell and synthesizer mastermind Vince Clarke into crossing over into mainstream success with songs such as “A Little Respect” and “Chains of Love.” Of course, the gays (and the cool kids) had been dancing to them for a couple of years by then. Since the release of “The Innocents,” Erasure has put out more than a dozen studio discs. Bell has even released a handful of solo albums. An interesting musical experiment if ever there was one, Erasure’s “World Beyond” is a “classical reworking” of the 10 tracks from its 2017 album “World Be Gone.” Given the subject matter of the album and the current chaotic political mood, the chamber music setting backed by Echo Collective is quite fitting. Mike Snider USA TODAY Published 12:40 p.m. UTC Aug 2, 2018 Speaker company Sonos is not only kicking off its initial public offering on Nasdaq Thursday, but also ringing in with a new opening and closing bell for the stock exchange. Monday was a big reality TV night for Buffalo natives. Abby Sullivan, the daughter of former Buffalo News sports columnist Jerry Sullivan and former Buffalo News copy editor Barbara Branning, won "The Proposal" on Monday night's episode of the ABC reality series. The graduate of Holy Angels said "yes" to a proposal by Winston, a mystery entrepreneur and self-made millionaire. She was the winner among 10 eligible women vying for a marriage proposal from a man whose identity was concealed for an hour until the final two met him face-to-face. In a text, Jerry Sullivan confirmed Abby, a Fredonia State College graduate who now is a dancer in Las Vegas, is no longer engaged. (The episode was produced several weeks ago.) What a shocker. "I'm lost for words," he wrote. "She stole the show and I was proud of her performance. Whether I'm proud of American … [Read more...] about Buffalo native wins ABC’s ‘The Proposal’ but no wedding bells coming
