The New Orleans Saints bounced back from their season-opening home loss to Tampa Bay by capturing a 21-18 win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 2, but they failed to cover the spread as 10-point home favorites. The 39 combined points dropped "under" the 51-point total. "We took a lot of New Orleans money again last week," said Will Hall, the Sports Book Manager at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Mississippi. Not all the reviews of David Beckham's arrival in Paris have been glowing. One French newspaper called the global icon a 'third-hand Rolls Royce' in an unflattering portrait of the 37-year-old former England captain after he inked a deal to join Paris Saint-Germain for a five-month stint. "A special status can feed jealousy," French daily Le Figaro wrote in Friday's editions. "In a dressing room, where the offensive egos of players are struggling to live, the arrival of a third-hand Rolls Royce, which becomes the main focus of media fascination, risks causing envy, while feeding a climate of discord." Beckham, who says he will donate his salary to a children's charity in the French capital, is aiming to win a championship with his fourth different club in his fourth different country. He has previously won titles with Manchester United, Real Madrid and most recently with the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer. He joins a star-filled roster that … [Read more...] about David Beckham called a ‘third-hand Rolls Royce’ by one French newspaper after soccer star signs with Paris Saint-Germain
Odell Beckham Jr., the ubiquitous Giant, emerges through double glass doors at K1 Speed, an indoor racing center that features electric go-karting at the Poughkeepsie (N.Y.) Galleria. Hands stuffed in his Coco Chanel pants pockets, ear lobes studded with diamonds, he strolls to a back office as two Poughkeepsie Police officers — one in a bullet-proof vest — clear a path for him. He sports a black T-shirt emblazoned with a crown on it and a black hat turned backward over his blond dye job. One friend with him wears a hat marked “POPULAR.” Security scrambles while go-kart tires screech on the track. The back room is filled with memorabilia — mini-helmets, flat footballs and framed photos of his three-fingered, falling backward catch — to be signed. Fans press forward. Security unrolls tape to keep them at bay. “Really? We need a rope?” says Margaret Hitzel, a fan. “He’s an hour late.” FOLLOW THE DAILY NEWS SPORTS ON … [Read more...] about End Zone: Odell Beckham Jr.’s amazing catch made him a household name… but what’s next for the Giants star?
The arrow was pointing up for the Cowboys, sideways or down for the Falcons. Then a federal court on Thursday upheld the six-game league suspension for Ezekiel Elliott, a damaging blow to Dallas. When they meet Sunday in a critical NFC match, the winner will be in decent position for a run toward the playoffs, hardly what either 2016 conference power projected. The loser, particularly if it is Dallas with NFC East leader Philadelphia already 2½ games in front and Elliott presumably gone for much of the remainder of the schedule, will have used up significant margin for error."We know as a team what we're capable of," safety Ricardo Allen said of his 4-4 Falcons . "Just go out there and do our job. Just give a little more, take it to another level."We have another whole half of the season. Get it rolling. Get the small things right."Dallas (5-3) has done a lot of big things right after a 2-3 start. Somehow, the Cowboys managed through all the distractions from their star running … [Read more...] about With no Zeke, is arrow pointing up for Dallas?
