LUCKNOW, India (AP) — A large row boat taking villagers to a festival capsized in a flooded river in northern India on Thursday, leaving at least three people dead and 16 others missing, police said. A strong wind rocked the boat, which was carrying about 30 people, police officer Mohammed Nisar said. Some passengers were able to swim to safety, he said. Rescuers recovered three bodies. Hopes of finding the missing alive were fading as darkness approached, he said. The villagers were traveling to a nearby village in Banda district of Uttar Pradesh state to celebrate a Hindu festival. The area is about 250 kilometers (160 miles) southwest of Lucknow, the state capital. Heavy rains have caused floods and landslides in northern India during the June-September monsoon season. Boating accidents are common in the country, where many vessels are overcrowded and have inadequate safety equipment. HART: We Each Commit Three Felonies A Day. Deep State Lying In Wait for Trump
“Bart, we live in a society of laws. Why do you think I took you to all those ‘Police Academy’ movies? For fun? Well, I didn’t hear anybody laughing! Did you?” — Homer Simpson to his son Bart Harvard University professor Harvey Silverglate estimates that daily life in the United States is so over-criminalized that the average American professional commits about three felonies a day . The reason each of us commits a felony (plus) a day is that we are becoming a country of too many laws. Lots and lots of laws, layered upon each other with perpetual ambiguity. And it seems we keep adding to the laws that we have, thus making government larger and more unaccountably powerful with each bill the president signs. Enacting more laws, laws that even lawyers cannot understand, makes Americans less free. About 90 percent of D.C. workers (lousy with government employees) are Democrats. Democrats win there with over 91% of the vote. It is so bad there that they don’t even have to … [Read more...] about HART: We Each Commit Three Felonies A Day. Deep State Lying In Wait for Trump

Progressives are hoping that Harris’ aggressive cross-examination of Brett Kavanaugh during the explosive 2018 hearings investigating allegations of sexual misconduct are a preview of a similar performance in the coming weeks as the panel considers President Donald Trump’s potential third justice on the Supreme Court—this time, under an even brighter spotlight. “There’s really only two political events that capture the attention of the whole country: Supreme Court hearings, and presidential … [Read more...] about SCOTUS Hearing Could Put Kamala Center Stage in 2020 Brawl
