Up to 78 people have died in floods and 17 others in landslides in India’s Assam state, while at least 42 monsoon-related deaths have been recorded in Bangladesh since last month, when floods began ravaging parts of the two South Asian countries, forcing millions to take shelter away from their homes. ‘Dissolve The Supreme Court’: Liberals Go Ballistic Over SCOTUS Upholding Gun Rights
Liberals criticized the Supreme Court’s ruling in New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen Thursday. Some demanded that states defy the 6-3 ruling that ruled New York’s discretionary issuance of concealed carry permits violated the Second Amendment. Others called on Democrats to expand the Supreme Court in response to the decision. Liberals criticized the Supreme Court Thursday after it ruled New York’s requirement that applicants for concealed carry permits must prove they had “good cause” violated the Second Amendment. “Because the State of New York issues public-carry licenses only when an applicant demonstrates a special need for self-defense, we conclude that the State’s licensing regime violates the Constitution,” Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas wrote for a 6-3 majority in New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen.
