Citing privacy rights, Grossmont Union High School District did not identify the former Granite Hills High School teacher. NBC7 reported that Gerald Lopez was arrested in El Cajon. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of obscene material of a minor in a sexual act, harmful matter sent with interest to seduce a minor and annoy or molest a victim under the age of 18. Gerald Lopez, 54, who taught English and coached sports at the East County school, was arrested last week by El Cajon police. The criminal complaint filed against Lopez charges him with felony counts of possessing child pornography and sending harmful matter to a minor, as well as a misdemeanor count of annoying or molesting a child for conduct that allegedly occurred in June. The complaint alleges he possessed child porn between March and June of this year. He faces up to four years and eight months in state prison if convicted of all charges. (AP) — A federal jury awarded Republican Roy Moore $8.2 million in damages Friday after finding a Democratic-aligned super PAC defamed him in a TV ad recounting sexual misconduct accusations during his failed 2017 U.S. Senate bid in Alabama. Jurors found the Senate Majority PAC made false and defamatory statements against Moore in one ad that attempted to highlight the accusations against Moore. The verdict, returned by a jury after a brief trial in Anniston, Alabama, was a victory for Moore, who has lost other defamation lawsuits, including one against comedian Sacha Baron Cohen. “We’re very thankful to God for an opportunity to help restore my reputation which was severely damaged by the 2017 election,” Moore said in a telephone interview.
