ROSEVILLE (CBS13) — An unsettling situation in a Roseville restroom after a woman says a man tried to record her from under the stall. Video from Jessica Quiroga shows a man darting out of a Roseville Big Lots off of Pleasant Grove Boulevard after she said she caught him in the act. READ MORE: Victimized Again: Looters Rummage Through Victims' Burned Homes “He was recording me in the bathroom!” Quiroga is heard yelling in the video. She said she chased the man out of the store after he attempted to film her in the women’s restroom. Quiroga said she was already feeling weird after seeing men’s shoes in the stall, and then she noticed him put his phone was on its side, propped up on his shoe. “It was just a completely vulnerable moment,” Quiroga said. Immediately leaving the restroom, she waited for the man to come out the bathroom doors. When he finally did, she said she approached him and started to speak loudly so others nearby could be aware. “I said what are you doing in the women’s restroom? He said it was a mistake. I said no it wasn’t … you were recording me,” Quiroga said of the encounter. Her brief conversation drew community attention. Another video shared by Quiroga shows several people following the man out of the store, and trying to get him to stop. Though, to no avail. Friday Marks First Anniversary Of Boston Biogen Conference Super Spreader Event
BOSTON (CBS) – Friday marks the first anniversary of what is believed to be the first coronavirus super spreader event in Massachusetts, the Biogen conference in Boston. Ninety-nine of the 175 people who attended the two-day conference at the Marriott Long Wharf on February 26 and 27, 2020 tested positive for COVID-19. Those people then carried the virus across Massachusetts and different parts of the country and the world at a time when little was known about it and the importance of masks and social distancing. Cases were traced as far away as Australia, Slovakia, and Sweden. The study estimated the conference is responsible for about 1.6% of all coronavirus cases in the United States. DA Files Murder Charges Against Suspected Drunk Driver In Fatal West Sacramento Crash
WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The Yolo County District Attorney on Thursday filed murder charges against Gabriel Poletti, the man accused of a DUI in a head-on crash that killed two parents and injured their two young children in West Sacramento on Feb. 15. The criminal complaint filed against 27-year-old Poletti, of Elk Grove, alleges two charges of murder, two charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated with a previous DUI conviction and other DUI-related charges with several enhancements related to the children’s injuries and Poletti’s blood alcohol content level. The couple’s two young children, three-year-old Jannah and seven-month-old Azzan, sustained minor to moderate injuries and have since been released into the care of family members. According to the district attorney’s office, Poletti having a prior DUI conviction allowed for murder charges to be filed in this case. A student at St. Francis Catholic High School who was seen in a video using blackface to impersonate a fellow student is no longer at the school, a spokesperson confirms. Students rallied at St. Francis High School Wednesday, Feb. 24. A crowd of passionate students and community members gathered at the school on Wednesday to make clear that the conversation about race is just getting started. “We understand the severity of racism. Now that we do, we need to hold zero tolerance type of provision in our schools and at work,” said Tecoy Porter, a pastor at Genesis Church. Former students and parents at St. Francis high school spoke out last summer about deep-seated racism there. School leaders then launched a racial reconciliation program to train staff about racial bias. But months later, the photo incident happened. Suspected DUI Driver Arrested After Head-On Crash Kills Couple In West Sacramento
WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A driver accused of being under the influence when he crashed head-on into another vehicle, killing a mother and father, has been arrested, police announced Tuesday. Gabriel Poletti, 27, is facing two counts of murder and two counts of driving under the influence causing injury. On Tuesday, Poletti was arrested on multiple charges connected to the fatal crash. He was booked into Yolo County Jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned on February 26.
