TUCKER CARLSON: The Democratic Party believes owning a gun is too much autonomy for you
close Video Tucker: You can't have guns, but faithful servants of the Democratic Party can! Fox News host Tucker Carlson gives his take on gun control legislation on 'Tucker Carlson Tonight.' NEW You can now listen to Fox News articles! If there's one thing your average liberal understands perfectly well, it's that there's safety in numbers. Don't go out alone. Bring 80 million people with you. It's safer that way. There is a reason, a fundamental reason, the Democrats are natural joiners and organizers and petition-signers and that their highest virtue is conformity. They know that as long as they're all wearing the same uniform, they'll probably be OK. This is why you'll see one person in Brookline or Bethesda raise a Ukrainian flag in the yard, and the very next day, everybody on the street will have one, too. Suddenly, it's an entire neighborhood of foreign policy experts, all specializing in Eastern European border disputes. It's amazing. … [Read more...] about TUCKER CARLSON: The Democratic Party believes owning a gun is too much autonomy for you
Unknown Jackson Pollock painting found during police raid in Bulgaria
A previously unknown painting by famed U.S. artist Jackson Pollock has been discovered in Bulgaria by police investigating international art smugglers, officials said. The work could be worth up to 50 million euros ($54 million), Bulgarian National Radio reported, citing experts. Several people, including Bulgarian citizens, were arrested in the international operation, state news agency BTA reported on Tuesday. The report did not give a description of the painting or any other details on the work. Pollock, a major figure in the abstract expressionist movement of the 1940s and 50s, was known for his technique of pouring, dribbling and dripping paint in wild patterns onto large canvases. He died in 1956. “This is an international operation with the participation of Europol, Greece and other countries,” Petar Todorov, Bulgaria’s Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, said, according to the Novinite news agency. “To our great joy, we managed to … [Read more...] about Unknown Jackson Pollock painting found during police raid in Bulgaria
A New Trio of Watches That Honors Breitling’s Founding Family
In 1884, a 24-year-old Léon Breitling opened a workshop in the Swiss Jura town of Saint-Imier, where he began obtaining patents for chronometric instruments. His pioneering creations — which ranged from a pocket-watch tachymeter for measuring a vehicle’s speed to table clocks with weeklong power reserves — were coveted for their technical precision. Léon’s son, Gaston, later expanded the business, developing an early wrist-worn chronograph that became popular among athletes and aviators. In 1932, Gaston’s 19-year-old son, Willy, took over the company and, in 1943, he launched the brand’s Premier collection, with its distinctive Arabic numerals and polished square buttons. Now, Breitling is introducing a new trio of timepieces, each inspired by — and named after — one of its three patriarchs. Among them is the Premier B21 Léon Breitling: Set in 18-karat red gold, it features a symmetrical silver dial, a domed sapphire crystal case back and a brown alligator leather strap, with … [Read more...] about A New Trio of Watches That Honors Breitling’s Founding Family
A Scoreless Wonder and a Master of the Sinker
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Zac Gallen had just been promoted to Class AA, and his first assignment for the Springfield Cardinals was to chart the pitches of a teammate. It was a routine task and Gallen was tired, but a coach gave him a tip: “You might want to pay attention to this.” The “this” in question was Sandy Alcantara in 2017, a few months before he and Gallen would be traded from the St. Louis organization to Miami for outfielder Marcell Ozuna. Alcantara, a willowy right-hander from the Dominican Republic, was throwing 97 to 102 miles per hour, Gallen recalled, working to refine his secondary pitches but clearly a name to remember. Last season, Alcantara was the unanimous National League Cy Young Award winner for the Marlins. He had all the indications of a breakout candidate hiding in plain sight: durability, performance, relative anonymity and youth. Entering 2022, Alcantara was coming off a season in which he surpassed 30 starts and 180 innings and had an E.R.A. under 3.50. … [Read more...] about A Scoreless Wonder and a Master of the Sinker
Soccer : In the big game, Ronaldo delivers
Only the Italians, or rather Italian clubs stocked with international talents, can now prevent Real Madrid's re-coronation as the greatest soccer team in Europe. After a week in which Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan ground out results that put them into the UEFA Champions League semifinals, who can be certain that their none-shall-pass tactics will not end the imperious Madrid gallop that on Wednesday eclipsed Manchester United in exhilarating style? It is a sobering thought to bring us down from cloud nine after the manner in which coach Vicente Del Bosque's Real traded goals with United, always maintaining the fine edge so that even though Real lost the game it gained an aggregate 6-5 victory over the two legs. The romantics say Real Madrid cannot be beaten. Realists must look at the artful cunning returning to Italy's top teams and to the gruesome but effective way Juventus (Madrid's semifinal opponent next month) dealt with Barcelona and the brinkmanship of the two Milan … [Read more...] about Soccer : In the big game, Ronaldo delivers
