Program planning is underway, but some projects, which include the crossing, may take until 2040 to complete, the new website says. Transit operators and the region’s Metropolitan Transportation Commission have already put $210 million toward project planning. The commission’s Plan Bay Area 2050 estimates the total cost of the new transbay rail crossing at $29 billion, subject to change.
