Arthur Frisch, the beloved Chronicle newsman who rose from copy boy to become deputy chief photographer and who was known for his professionalism, his good humor and for the small can of tomato juice that always seemed to be at his side, has died. Mr. Frisch died Jan. 10 in a Walnut Creek board and care facility after a long illness. He was 89. He was a gentleman who, even when covering the most tragic or dramatic story, never lost his composure or his poise. "Art was a cool guy," said Chronicle photographer Fred Larson. "He was old school, and a pleasure to work for. When Art put an assignment in your hand, you went and did it on the spot. He expected you to run out the door. You better not finish your lunch first." "That's right," recalled former photographer John O'Hara. "One photographer stopped to wash his hands after Art told him to go cover a fire. Art never forgot it. Never." ‘CBS Evening News’ cheered Joe Biden’s exchange with Marine Corps vet, critic says
close Video The Five reacts to Biden's heated Iowa exchange “CBS Evening News” fawned over 2020 presidential hopeful Joe Biden’s verbal attack on a voter Thursday, with multiple comparisons to the former vice president’s actions and even a prizefighter, according to a media watchdog. On November 19, the Campbell Union High School District (CUHSD) announced its most recent bond initiative that will save the community $3.1 million in future debt payments. "Our residents have supported CUHSD students over the years by approving bonds to improve our schools. We are taking advantage of historically low interest rates to lower future debt payments and save taxpayers a significant amount of money," said CUHSD Board President Kalen Gallagher. By taking advantage of favorable market conditions and supported by the District's current "AAA" rating from Standard and Poor's, the District has locked-in an interest rate of 2.23% for the life of the 1999 voter-approved bonds that are being refinanced.
