The Golden State Warriors surprised longtime Muni operator Angel Carvajal with tickets to his first-ever Dubs game Tuesday night, along with a custom jersey. Carvajal has been working for Muni for 36 years. He hadn't yet made it to a Warriors game, despite taking passengers to, from and past Chase Center on the T-Third line since the arena's opening in 2019. “Since the moment that I opened the door to come into the stadium, it was very special to me,” Carvajal told SFGATE. “It was very beautiful, very great.” Muni was contacted by the Warriors' communications team in an effort to highlight an operator of the Central Subway's T-Third route, Muni deputy spokesperson Stephen Chun said. Many San Francisco streets will be closed this weekend during Bay to Breakers , the annual large-scale footrace and citywide costume party that starts in the Embarcadero and ends at Ocean Beach. The 12-kilometer run has been celebrated almost every year since 1912, and will happen this year on Sunday, May 21. The race begins at 8 a.m. and finishes in the early afternoon. People should expect delays due to the street closures, as Bay to Breakers will draw crowds of racers and spectators before and after the event, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency said on its website . The road closures will start on the east side of the city at Main and Howard streets and end on the west side at the Great Highway. After the race begins, drivers — including Muni operators — will only be able to cross the race course from north to south (or vice versa) via the Embarcadero and Crossover Drive.
