Colin Miner , Patch Staff Posted Reply OREGON CITY, OR — The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office rescued a man who fell about 600 feet into the Devil's Kitchen area of Mt. Hood last month, the office said Monday. The unidentified man, who was rescued just after 8 a.m. May 24, was taken to an undisclosed local hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released, according to the sheriff's office. It was the ninth rescue of the traditional climbing season, which lasts from April through July, the sheriff's office said. Rescue teams usually go out on two or three rescues a season, officials said. Leslie Wright — who is set to face Oregon City Commission President Denyse McGriff in a special election on Aug. 23 — wrote in Pamplin Media Group that he was "disappointed and dismayed" about his own reference to Japanese people, which he made during a radio interview last month. 0 Arts & Entertainment Brian Krehbiel is painting a mural in downtown Oregon City depicting the tribal tale of how Willamette Falls was created. Colin Miner , Patch Staff Posted Reply OREGON CITY, OR — Brian Krehbiel, a member of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, was joined Wednesday by other tribal members in front of 503 Main St. in Oregon City. Standing in front of a large white outer wall of White Rabbit Black Ink, a bookstore and coffee shop, they blessed the area and the work that Krehbiel was about to undertake. With the support of the Three Rivers Artists Guild, Krehbiel received permission to paint a 75-foot-by-19-foot mural on the side of the building depicting the tale of Meadowlark and Coyote. The story tells how Meadowlark and Coyote overcame differences in language to stretch a large rope that was turned into a large rock that created Willamette Falls.
