A man stepped inside a Jewish synagogue in San Francisco on Wednesday night and made a statement before pulling out a handgun and firing off "possible blanks," officials said Friday morning. The description of the man in this incident is similar to the one of a man who reportedly brandished a gun at a local theater Tuesday night, the San Francisco Police Department said in a news release. "Based on these recent reports, which appear to be unrelated, the subject’s description is similar and is possibly the same individual," police said. "Officers are searching for this subject." Police said a man entered the Schneerson Center at 2655 Balboa St. at about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday when a group was gathered. After firing several shots, he fled the synagogue, police said. Police make arrest in connection to 2 monkeys taken from Dallas Zoo
Dallas Police have arrested a man in connection to two emperor tamarin monkeys that were taken from the Dallas Zoo earlier this week. Davion Irvin, 24, was booked into the Dallas county jail on Thursday night and faces six charges of animal cruelty in relation to the incident, per a report from the Dallas Morning News. Irvin was taken to police headquarters for questioning after police received a tip that he was spotted at the Dallas World Aquarium. Earlier this week, police shared an image of Irvin with the public, believing him to have information on the missing monkeys. The two emperor tamarin monkeys, named Bella and Finn, were returned to the zoo after police located them inside a closet in an abandoned home in Lancaster on Tuesday, just 20 minutes away from the zoo. Juvenile killed in East Oakland shooting
A juvenile was shot and killed in East Oakland in the early hours of Friday morning, police said. Oakland police said that officers responded to reports of a shooting at the 8000 block of Dowling Street around 1:30 a.m. At the scene, they found a juvenile Oakland resident with gunshot wounds. He died at the scene. Oakland police did not immediately respond to questions about the boy’s age or about whether they had a suspect. They are not releasing the name of the victim until next of kin are notified of the death. Police were called to 155th and Cicero Avenue just before 1:30 p.m., when they found the teen with a single gunshot wound. The victim was taken to an area hospital, where he later died, police said. Police declined to comment if the building where the teen was found was a residence or business.
