Here’s what can go wrong when you shop in Mexico and Canada for cheap drugs
In its effort to temper the sky-high prices Americans pay for many vital medications, the Trump administration last month unveiled a plan that would legalize the importation of selected prescription drugs from countries where they sell for far less. But the plan addresses imports only at the wholesale level; it is silent about the transactions by millions of Americans who already buy their medications outside the United States.Americans routinely skirt federal law by crossing into Canada and Mexico or tapping online pharmacies abroad to buy prescription medications at a fraction of the price they would pay at home.In some cases, they do it out of desperation. MIAMI (AP) — Duncan Robinson tied a franchise record with 10 3-pointers, Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler each had triple-doubles and the Miami Heat scored 22 unanswered points down the stretch to beat the Atlanta Hawks 135-121 in overtime on Tuesday night. Kendrick Nunn scored 36 points, one off the Heat rookie record. Adebayo finished with a career-high 30 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. Butler had 20 points, a career-high 18 rebounds and 10 assists. And Robinson scored 34 points, on a night when the Heat moved to 11-0 at home. They had to scramble to get there, down by six with less than a minute left in regulation. But Robinson and Butler made 3s late to tie the game, and the Heat opened overtime on a 16-0 run. It was the NBA’s widest margin of victory in an overtime game since Oct. 31, 2009, when Philadelphia beat New York 141-127. De’Andre Hunter scored 28 points, and Trae Young added 21 points and nine assists for Atlanta — which fell to 0-3 against the … [Read more...] about Heat Use 22-0 Late Run To Top Hawks, 135-121 In OT
‘It’s Become Socially Acceptable’: Philadelphia Youth Fighting Back After 110 Children Injured, Killed By Gun Violence This Year
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Gun violence continues to be a growing problem in Philadelphia and more and more young people are being impacted. So far this year, 110 children have been injured or killed as a result of gun violence. On Tuesday night, community members gathered at a town hall meeting aimed at fighting gun violence that’s striking the city’s youth. It’s become a tipping point for many young people throughout Philadelphia. So now a few dozen young people are gathering in hopes of curbing the violence plaguing those under 18. “We have to wake them up and get them in the rooms to hear what they have to say,” Warren Upchurch, with the nonprofit New Options More Opportunity, said. Upchurch says he’s glad more than three dozen teens gathered at the community center in Wharton Square Park in Point Breeze at a forum to show violence simply should not be tolerated. “We see that there is a lot of normalcy when it comes to crime, when it comes … [Read more...] about ‘It’s Become Socially Acceptable’: Philadelphia Youth Fighting Back After 110 Children Injured, Killed By Gun Violence This Year
