Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents and local police officers disrupted an attempt by alleged human smugglers to transport four Central American migrants on a private aircraft. The incident took place at the Valley International Airport in Harlingen, Texas. Rio Grande Valley Sector agents assigned to the Border Patrol Intelligence team received information regarding suspicious activity at the Valley International Airport on May 25. Migrants Charged by Texas Police for Breaching Border Barriers
EAGLE PASS, Texas — Texas Department of Public Safety troopers are now charging arrested migrants who cross the Rio Grande with criminal trespass after attempting to breach temporary border walls in the heart of downtown Eagle Pass. As Breitbart Texas watched along the Rio Grande on Friday, one group of migrants was arrested by Highway Patrol troopers from Texas and Florida after managing to move through a stretch of concertina wire. Breitbart Texas observed the group of six migrants as they emerged from the river and were swiftly taken into custody by the troopers. The group of migrants from Honduras and Venezuela was later featured in a tweet by a Texas Highway Patrol spokesperson who says the group now faces criminal trespass charges. Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz announced his intention to retire from the post as head of the United States Border Patrol effective June 30. Texas Governor Calls Special Session for Border Security, Property Tax Measures
Shortly after the 88th Texas Legislature adjourned sine die , Governor Greg Abbott called them back to what is expected to be several special legislative sessions. The first session, which began Monday night, calls for the legislators to pass bills related to border security and property tax relief. Governor Abbott said that despite many good bills being passed in the regular session of the legisature, that more must be done. “Many critical items remain that must be passed. Several special sessions will be required,” Abbott said in a written statement. “To ensure that each priority receives the time and attention it deserves to pass into law, only a few will be added each session.” The governor said that the first special session will focus on cracking down on human smuggling and reducing property taxes. Law enforcement officials in Zavala County, Texas, say human smugglers are back to business as usual following a brief lull in activity on Texas roadways after the end of the Title 42 COVID-19 expulsion authority.
