The designation of #TooMuchTV isn’t just a cutesy label for the current era. There is actually too much TV. It’s no longer, “Who has the time?” but, “There is literally not enough time to watch it all.” This fall will see an explosion of streaming services in addition to the usual mass of new programming, with Disney and Apple set for big launches. It’s a lot! So what to watch? We’ve combed through most of the new series that have been announced, watched what we could, read the tea leaves on others, and, for the rest, relied on our gut, good casting, and batshit press releases. A lot of these shows we’ve seen and can confirm are great. Some are here because they have great buzz. Some are on this list because of what they signify at the crossroads of the streaming apocalypse for the future of the industry. Others we expect you’ll be talking about for, let’s say, different reasons. Here, presented in order of … [Read more...] about The 20 Most Exciting New TV Shows You Need to See

Baskets, which stars Zach Galifianakis as a struggling aspiring clown, might be the weirdest new TV show to broadcast in the last year—a year, we might add, that was marked by 409 scripted shows airing on multiple platforms, earning the designation #PeakTV for the cacophony of options. Left-wing TV producer Chuck Lorre used the credits of Thursday night’s edition of Young Sheldon and Mom to share a quote from Alexander Hamilton that he believes would have made him a supporter of impeaching President Donald Trump. At the end of Thursday’s night’s episodes, Lorre, who co-created the shows, posted one of his “Chuck Lorre Productions” vanity cards with a quote from the Founding Father that was recently used in a Washington Post op-ed by Hamilton biography Ron Chernow, arguing Hamilton would have supported attempts by Democratic Party lawmakers to impeach Trump. The use of Hamilton’s quote was a suggestion that Trump may be deliberately seeking to inflict chaos on the country by repeatedly trying to embarrass the General Government while scoffing at the principles of liberty. The quote is as follows: When a man unprincipled in private life, desperate in his fortune, bold in his temper . . . despotic in his … [Read more...] about Young Sheldon’ Creator Chuck Lorre Posts Impeachment Message in Show’s Credits
