Another day, another tiring pronoun debate. Pronouns are simple, they have been around for centuries and yet, people are acting as if they are a brand new concept—when they aren’t using them as political and bullying fodder, of course. This time the hot-button topic is being discussed not because of some horrible remarks from bigoted politicians or a terrible tweet from a certain She-Who-Will-Not-Be-Named TERF (Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist), but because singer and performer Demi Lovato announced they are using “she/her” pronouns now in addition to the “they/them” pronouns they already utilize. Lovato opened up about this development in their gender identity journey in an interview with Spout podcast . “Recently, I have been feeling more feminine and so, I have adopted she/her again,” said Lovato. “I’m such a fluid person.” Lovato came out as non-binary in May 2021 with a video and Twitter thread, that informed the public they would be going by they/them … [Read more...] about The Real Lesson of Demi Lovato Updating Her/Their Pronouns

Alabama Trans Teens and Families Celebrate Legal Win, ‘but We Will Never Stop Fighting’
On Saturday morning, Jeff Walker woke his 15-year-old daughter Harleigh up with some news. In return, “she gave me the biggest hug,” Jeff told The Daily Beast. Late Friday night, U.S. District Judge Liles Burke issued a temporary injunction on a new Alabama law that made it a felony for doctors and parents in the state to provide gender-affirming medical treatment to transgender youth under 19, punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Judge Burke left in place a provision banning gender-affirming surgeries on trans minors. Another part of the law left intact by Judge Burke insists that teachers and school officials tell parents if a child discloses to that official or staff member that they feel they are transgender. On Saturday, trans teenagers, their parents, and doctors were both celebrating, while also eyeing the injunction cautiously as a momentary reprieve; Governor Kay Ivey said it was a “temporary legal roadblock,” while the state attorney general indicated he would … [Read more...] about Alabama Trans Teens and Families Celebrate Legal Win, ‘but We Will Never Stop Fighting’
James Lindsay Blacklisted by Twitter for Criticizing the Left for Grooming Children
Academic and leading critic of wokeness James Lindsay has been blacklisted from Twitter, a platform he used to draw public attention to a number of issues that have attracted growing public concern, notably the rise of critical race theory and transgender ideology in schools. Lindsay was banned after a mass reporting campaign from leftists on the platform, after using the phrase “child sexualization specialist” to describe people who facilitate gender transitions for children — a process that often involves permanent castration and genital mutilation. Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal (Google Cloud/YouTube) First trans solidarity rally and march, Washington, DC USA (Ted Eytan/Flickr) Alejandra Caraballo, one of the people who reported Lindsay’s account, celebrated the silencing of the prominent activist on Twitter, saying “good riddance.” Tell James, I want him to know it was me. pic.twitter.com/fn49LqjTdK — Alejandra Caraballo (@Esqueer_) August 5, 2022 … [Read more...] about James Lindsay Blacklisted by Twitter for Criticizing the Left for Grooming Children

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) cleared up any lingering media “confusion” on what is appropriate in a school curriculum as the new school year approaches, making it clear that Marxist ideology and sexualized content has no place in a child’s classroom. “As students head back to their classrooms this fall, I’m happy to clear up any ‘confusion’ the media may have about appropriate curriculum: Math, Reading, Writing,” DeSantis wrote, while deeming “ CRT, Sexualized Content, [and] Transgender Ideology” inappropriate. “Florida schools will educate children, not indoctrinate them,” he added. Ron DeSantis Had to Go Back 75 Years to Justify His War on Drag Queens
When Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis made it known he wants to revoke the liquor license of a Miami restaurant that welcomes children to a weekend “ drag brunch ,” the state Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) went back 75 years and dusted off a Florida Supreme Court case involving what was variously called the Ha Ha Club and the Club Ha Ha. The Ha Ha of Hallandale featured female impersonators and its very name signaled that, unlike strip clubs it was not about seedy sex, but campy fun. It had less to do with a leer than a laugh and it drew enough prominent people that the county commissioners overruled the city officials who initially refused to issue it a liquor license. But one person who was not won over was a juvenile probation officer named Frank Tuppen. He went to Broward County Circuit Court in 1946 saying the Ha Ha was subject to Section 64.11, of the Florida Statutes, which provides for “the abatement of nuisances.” He argued that the Ha Ha … [Read more...] about Ron DeSantis Had to Go Back 75 Years to Justify His War on Drag Queens
