A historic landslide reactivated on May 2, creating visible cracks in the existing slope and damaging the access trail from the parking lot downslope to Beacon's Beach in the Encinitas community of Leucadia. Since then, the city and Scripps Institution of Oceanography have monitored and evaluated the Beacon's Beach bluff and parking lot. BUTTE COUNTY (CBS13) — The latest on the two fires burning near Oroville in Butte County: Cal Fire reported Saturday morning that the Nelson fire is 100 percent contained. The latest update on the Sandra Fire is 34 acres and 85 percent contained, as of Saturday morning, according to Cal Fire. Two structures have been destroyed. Cal Fire said crews would remain in the area into the night. 8 p.m. Cal Fire said the Sandra Fire was 40 acres and 30 percent contained. NEVADA COUNTY (CBS13) — The latest on the Rices Fire in Nevada County: Containment grew to 26% overnight Friday, but firefighters are keeping a watchful eye on increased winds that could fan the flames across the river and into Yuba County, as well as threaten to spread the fire to the north into the community of San Juan. The fire remains at 904 acres, according to Cal Fire’s latest report Saturday morning. A total of 13 structures have been destroyed, which includes five residences. Full containment is still expected by Tuesday. A cyclist died early Wednesday after a collision with a vehicle at Octavia and Oak streets in San Francisco, police said. Police described the male victim as a cyclist, and representatives of Recology said one of its collection trucks was involved in a crash with a man on a motorized unicycle. A police spokesperson said Wednesday afternoon that the department would only disclose that a cyclist collided with a commercial vehicle and would not identify the type of vehicles involved. Officers sent to the scene of a traffic collision at about 4 a.m. found an injured male cyclist, according to the Police Department. They summoned paramedics and administered aid, but the cyclist died at the scene. The driver of the vehicle in the collision remained on the scene and was cooperating with the investigation, police said. The 45-year-old daughter of a renowned Australian horse breeder has been accused of having sex with a 14-year-old boy multiple times in one day. Police charged heiress Savannah Daisley with four aggravated sexual intercourse counts , accusing her of having sex with the teenage boy four times in North Shore during a 24-hour period in May 2021, the NZ Herald reported Thursday. Daisley, founder of detox business Smart Cleanse, appeared Tuesday in Waverley Court over the charges, according to the outlet. She allegedly said she kissed the boy in a phone call tapped by the police, according to the NZ Herald. Police also presented the court with claims Daisley was significantly intoxicated when the alleged offense occurred, the outlet continued. No pleas to the four charges had been submitted by Daisley.
