There are few questions the media can ask that will prompt a smile from Syracuse men's basketball head coach Jim Boeheim. But when it comes to food, the legendary Orange leader seems to be more than willing to chat. Through an interview with Syracuse.com's Mike Waters, Boeheim revealed his favorite places to eat in the cities in which his team plays. Leaning toward steakhouses and Italian restaurants as a whole, Boeheim noted Siena, at 4516 Main St. in Amherst, as his preferred Buffalo-area dining destination. What Boeheim may not know is his favorite Buffalo-area restaurant is in a legal battle in which Siena owners Chuck Mauro and Henry Gorino have been tangled with First Amherst Development over the purchase of the building, in which the restaurant most recently savored a victory. Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse basketball coach Jim Boeheim is scheduled to speak at the DeWitt Rotary Club's upcoming luncheon on Monday, Oct. 1. Boeheim is entering his 43rd season as Syracuse's head coach. He ranks second among all-time Division I coaches i wins. He has taken Syracuse to the NCAA tournament 33 times, including last season's run to the Sweet 16. Boeheim will have all five starters back from last year's team, including leading scorer Tyus Battle. The luncheon will be held at Traditions at The Links at Erie Village. The lunch begins at noon and is open to the public. There will also be a Syracuse basketball memorabilia auction. The cost for a ticket to the event is $25 per person. Syracuse, N.Y. -- Jim Boeheim wants to make something clear. His son, Buddy, will be on scholarship this season. And he is not sitting out the year as a redshirt. "They still speculate about it all the time that it's a possibility. He's not redshirting," Boeheim said. "Right now, there's no plans to redshirt anybody." Buddy Boeheim will be a freshman in 2018-19, when Syracuse returns every one of its starters from its Sweet 16 team of a season ago. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard has been working out with his new Orange teammates all summer since graduating from Brewster Academy, where he spent his senior high school season. With Buddy at SU, Jim Boeheim will coach one of his four children for the first time. He and Buddy are close and the Syracuse coach expects to enjoy the experience. Syracuse basketball coach Jim Boeheim, actor Daniel Baldwin, and scrap king Adam Weitsman will be behind the bar at The Krebs in Skaneateles to benefit the Carol M.
