French protests intensify in test for Macron; police bolster security amid warnings radicals seek ‘to destroy’
close Video France protests: King Charles' visit postponed amid protests Former OMB director Mick Mulvaney weighs in on the revolt over retirement age hike and how it puts U.S. debt in focus on 'Your World.' More than 13,000 officers were deployed across France Tuesday as protests against pension reforms intensify in a test for President Emmanuel Macron. French police are ramping up security after the government warned that radical demonstrators intended "to destroy, to injure and to kill," The Associated Press reported. Concerns that violence could mar the demonstrations prompted what Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin described as an unprecedented deployment of 13,000 officers, including about 5,000 concentrated in the capital of Paris, where police faced down ultra-leftist radicals. Reuters reported that black-clad groups set fire to garbage cans and threw projectiles at police in Paris. Police responded with tear gas. It’s the Perfect Time for Lisa Rinna to Become the M&M Spokesperson
She may have been fired from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills , but it’s time to own it. Lisa Rinna is meant for something even greater. And it's time she takes her rightful throne as the M&M spokesperson. The Lisa Rinna M&M meme has transcended time. I wake up in the morning yearning to look at it. I’ve spent months editing it into countless photos of me and my friends. I bought coasters with her on it. This meme is the modern embodiment of Plato’s Allegory of the Cave . Now that I’ve seen it, I can’t ever be satisfied by a life without Lisa Rinna M&M. And I’m not alone. The meme has caused a cultural revolution. All it took was a 2006 M&M ad campaign , a K-pop song and a Twitter user with a dream. From September to October, if I saw any Twitter video I expected a Lisa Rinna M&M jump scare. And I was right 97 percent of the time. The Lisa Rinna M&M meme made up the best comedy of 2022. She was an institution. From the photo of her … [Read more...] about It’s the Perfect Time for Lisa Rinna to Become the M&M Spokesperson
The Outrageous ‘M3GAN’ Marketing Campaign Was a Triumph
If you live in New York, or inhabit any corner of the social media landscape (Instagram, Twitter, even YouTube), chances are you’ve witnessed some absurd advertisements in the past month. More specifically, we’re hedging our bets that you’ve seen a life-size doll with strawberry blonde curls, a little button-down jacket, and gigantic eyes around lately—often dancing, always murderous. That girl is M3GAN , star of the movie M3GAN . She is everywhere . As a part of Blumhouse’s guerilla marketing campaign for the movie, around a dozen M3GANs (humans dressed as the character, Mary Jane shoes, creepy blue eyes, and all) have been specifically unleashed on New York City, creeping everyone out on the subway and on top of the Empire State Building . They have raided the Today show and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon . And outside of NYC, they have marched onto football fields to do M3GAN’s now-infamous dance . This all started when eight of the M3GAN … [Read more...] about The Outrageous ‘M3GAN’ Marketing Campaign Was a Triumph

Where Nations Debate, Harmony of a Jazzy Kind
From its earliest days, when the pianist Jelly Roll Morton spoke of a “Spanish tinge,” jazz has been extraordinarily open to international influences. Now it’s official. Last fall Unesco — the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization — designated jazz a “universal music of freedom and creativity” and decreed that henceforth every April 30 is to be celebrated around the world as International Jazz Day. As part of the first year’s festivities — and also to show jazz’s global reach — some of the genre’s biggest names will be performing on Monday night at the United Nations headquarters, in the same space where world leaders gather each fall for the General Assembly. In addition to American players like Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Stevie Wonder, Wynton Marsalis and Esperanza Spalding, musicians from Latin America, Africa, Europe and Asia will also be participating. On Sunday afternoon, after a custom-made stage had been installed directly under the United … [Read more...] about Where Nations Debate, Harmony of a Jazzy Kind
