0 Politics & Government "We must confront Islamophobia or any form of racism" wherever it is found, said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, "even in these very halls." Daily Montanan , News Partner Posted Reply Daily Montanan December 26, 2021 The U.S. House following a vitriolic debate passed a bill along party lines Tuesday night to create a State Department office that would counter Islamophobia worldwide. Democrats said a conflict much closer to home showed the need to confront anti-Muslim bigotry. The bill sponsored by Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minnesota, picked up momentum after Colorado Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert suggested Omar, who is Muslim, was a terrorist. Democrats, including Colorado’s Ed Perlmutter and Joe Neguse, criticized Boebert in declaring their support for the measure. The vote, on likely the last day the House is in session this year, appears to be the only action the chamber will take for now related … [Read more...] about U.S. House Passed A Bill Along Party Lines To Create A State Department Office That Would Counter Islamophobia Worldwide

Daily Montanan , News Partner Posted Reply Daily Montanan WASHINGTON — Republicans and Democrats in Congress can agree on sleep, or more precisely, the inconvenience of losing or gaining an hour of it each year thanks to going on and off daylight saving time. “I believe that any justifications for springing forward and falling back are either outdated or are outweighed by the serious health and economic impacts we now know are associated with the time changes,” U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Frank Pallone of New Jersey said this week. As Americans prepare to adjust their clocks this weekend for daylight saving time, lawmakers at an Energy and Commerce subcommittee hearing on Wednesday assembled a panel of experts to discuss the health, energy … [Read more...] about Congress Hates Changing The Clocks Just Like Everyone Else
