Nolte: Ezra Miller’s Alleged Scumbaggery Should Not Kill Release of ‘Flash’ Movie
There are two ways to examine the exploding controversy over Ezra Miller and his upcoming $200 million Flash movie. The first is this: In the fascist woke universe, of course, The Flash should never see the light of day. The movie should be scrapped, burned, and its ashes scattered over the Indian Ocean. Look at the precedents set in this universe… Disney blacklisted actress Gina Carano over nothing more than not being a leftist. Johnny Depp was blacklisted for five years(!) before he was vindicated in court. The Great Woody Allen has been blacklisted after two states — two ! — found him innocent. Put another way, the Nazis who run Woke Hollywood have been disappearing, destroying, and annihilating people and careers for supposed sins that don’t even come close to the horrors attributed to Ezra Miller. So, of course, The Flash should never see the light of day. The second way to look at it is this: In a just and sane universe, the very idea of attaching purity tests to … [Read more...] about Nolte: Ezra Miller’s Alleged Scumbaggery Should Not Kill Release of ‘Flash’ Movie

New movies to stream this week: ‘The Princess,’ ‘Day Shift’ and more
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 6 Between "The Crown," Kristen Stewart in "Spencer" and tabloid culture's insatiable hunger for all things royal, viewers would be forgiven for thinking one more documentary about Princess Diana is gratuitous at best - or, being timed to the 25th anniversary of her death, morbidly opportunistic at worst. But "The Princess," Ed Perkins's absorbing, thoughtful documentary, might be the film we've been waiting for all along. Eschewing the usual conceits of talking heads, voice-overs and bio-fiction narrative tropes, Perkins simply assembles images from Diana's life, entirely gleaned from archival footage. Those clips - her fairy-tale courtship with Prince Charles, their "wedding of the century," the ensuing troubled marriage and breakup, her transformation from fey English rose to paparazzi catnip and, finally, her martyrdom at the hands of the media she both hid from and … [Read more...] about New movies to stream this week: ‘The Princess,’ ‘Day Shift’ and more
Review: Jamie Foxx hunts vampires in comedy ‘Day Shift’
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 12 This year marks the centennial anniversary of F. W. Murnau's “Nosferatu,” a long time for us humans but only a blip for vampires. If you were looking to celebrate the birthday of that silent classic, which still casts a long and ominous shadow over all vampires films that have followed, you could do it with what's perhaps its exact opposite: the new Netflix action-comedy “Day Shift,” with Jamie Foxx as a San Fernando Valley vampire hunter. “Day Shift,” which begins streaming Friday, has aims much closer to something like “Zombieland" than Murnau. Foxx plays Bud Jablonski, a working-class Los Angeles man and divorced father who cleans pools as a cover for his real job of hunting vampires. They seem to be especially populous in the San Fernando Valley, which may not be surprising to Californians but is about as far a departure you … [Read more...] about Review: Jamie Foxx hunts vampires in comedy ‘Day Shift’
