The Civil Grand Jury is convened by the court to investigate local government for the purpose of ensuring that public agencies are working in the best interest of the public, and are doing so effectively and economically. Potential nominees should know that participation on the Civic Grand Jury is a significant commitment with at least two meetings per week in Oakland for one year, Alameda County said in a news release .
