On Wednesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “The Lead,” Senior Adviser to President Joe Biden Gene Sperling agreed with Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell’s statement that there was high inflation before Russia invaded Ukraine and argued that the inflation that existed prior to the war in Ukraine was “related to” the coronavirus pandemic because the pandemic caused the economy to shut down and start up again, created supply chain issues and kept those issues from being corrected, and led to production shutdowns and lockdowns in Asia. She was 94 years old and was born on June 13, 1923 in Washington, D.C. at Walter Reed. Her father and longtime Alexandria resident Col. Henry Chester Hine, Jr. was an Army officer stationed in the area at the time with her mother Norvell Pauline, who was the daughter of soon-to-be Chief of Chaplains Julian E. Yates. She had a sister Janet Hines and a half-sister Page Billig, both now deceased. (AP) — Atlantic City's Hard Rock Hotel & Casino marked its fourth anniversary on Tuesday by making donations to four local charities, putting the casino's total charitable donations past the $1 million mark. The casino donated $10,000 each to the Atlantic City Rescue Mission, CASA of Atlantic and Cape May Counties, Avanzar and Veterans Haven South.
