Patrick Queen on his future with Ravens: ‘This is where I want to play’
Patrick Queen stood at the microphone adjacent to the Ravens’ practice field in Owings Mills on Thursday fielding questions about his future in Baltimore. Nearby, general manager Eric DeCosta jogged up a set of stairs leading into the offices of owner Steve Biscotti’s castle. For now, Queen remains a Raven. For how long remains to be seen. Last month, the Ravens declined Queen’s fifth-year option , making the 23-year-old a free agent after this season — if he isn’t traded or signed to an extension before then. “It’s a blessing in disguise,” Queen said during voluntary organized team activities Thursday. “You see guys go both sides of it and get paid either way. “I’m not focused on the future. I’m focused on right now. If I take care of my business, all of that will fall into place.” It just might not be in Baltimore. While the Ravens’ decision to decline Queen’s option was anything but a surprise, it was perhaps telling. Last season, Baltimore acquired All-Pro … [Read more...] about Patrick Queen on his future with Ravens: ‘This is where I want to play’
Living In Circles In Round Houses In CA, FL And IL: How Much House
Sponsored By 0 Real Estate A round house in Florida survived Hurricane Ian. In a star-studded California enclave, guests walk in circles. In Illinois, plan to hunt. Beth Dalbey , Patch Staff Posted | Updated Reply ACROSS AMERICA — There are some advantages, at least theoretically, to living in a round house. Contractors and companies that build and sell them tout the energy efficiency that comes with a simple shape, an aerodynamic design that’s better able to withstand high winds and hurricanes, and acoustics that soften sounds. But would you feel like you’re just walking around in circles? Or that you’re stuck on a merry-go-round that won’t spin? This week in How Much House , we looked at round homes in California, Florida and Illinois. The estimated monthly cost to live in each of the featured properties is based on a 20 percent down payment and a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage at current … [Read more...] about Living In Circles In Round Houses In CA, FL And IL: How Much House

The Tranquil Traditional Laos Villages—That Might Disappear Thanks to Chinese Trains
The frail old man walked slowly, carrying a live chicken by the neck. He squatted down over a woven basket of flowers, eggs, and candles, and waved the chicken over it, singing and humming. This was the village shaman, preparing the chicken for slaughter to drive out an angry spirit blamed for the sickness of a villager, my guide told me. That’s when I noticed the knife. For a brief moment, before Western reflexes kicked in, I believed in his power. I felt the energy and intention of the ancient ways of life in Muang La in Northern Laos. Close to China, the area is home to ethnic minority tribes living off of the land and practicing a traditional culture that has changed little in hundreds of years. Scattered across the remote, postcard-perfect mountains of lush greenery and rice fields, the tribes of Muang La offer visitors the privilege of experiencing their world. But the days of undisturbed authenticity are numbered in Muang La, and Laos in general. The Chinese are … [Read more...] about The Tranquil Traditional Laos Villages—That Might Disappear Thanks to Chinese Trains
Sean Payton hopes tight end Greg Dulcich can be Broncos’ “Joker”
It was hard to miss Greg Dulcich at Broncos OTAs on Thursday. During 11-on-11s, quarterback Russell Wilson rolled to his right, escaping defenders before connecting with the tight end on a short reception. Moments later, he arguably had one of the best plays of the afternoon. With backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham under center, Dulcich sped down the middle of the field, slipping past the secondary before making an impressive over-the-shoulder catch. Thursday was one of Dulcich’s best practices, according to head coach Sean Payton. As the first-year Broncos coach works on installing a new offense, he hopes the second-year player can use his unique skill-set to become the team’s “Joker” — a player who creates mismatches and provides versatility on the field. “Man, he can run and has good ball skills,” Payton said. “I think his menu is going to be lengthy in the passing game, and there’s enough stuff we can do in the run game.” Joker is the widely used the nickname of Nuggets … [Read more...] about Sean Payton hopes tight end Greg Dulcich can be Broncos’ “Joker”
