By Gary Peterson | [email protected] | Bay Area News Group August 7, 2018 at 12:51 pm Are you like me? Are you starved for news about the Warriors’ Kevin Durant? It’s been, what, days since we had an update? I’m here to serve. We’ll start with some wit and wisdom (or is that “witless wisdom”?) from Charles Barkley. Appearing on Sports Illustrated podcast Open Floor, Barkley practiced some unlicensed psychoanalysis on the two-time NBA Finals MVP. (Are you like me? Do you feel like in about five years the whole world will consist of nothing but podcasts and Amazon Prime?) “Kevin Durant is just a really nice guy trying to be a bad guy,” Barkley said. “You can’t do that. It doesn’t work. He spends all his time trying to prove to people how tough and bad he is. He’s so worried what other people say. Kevin Durant is a great player and a great kid. I was one of those guys who criticized him for … [Read more...] about As if to prove Charles Barkley’s point, Kevin Durant gives Dwyane Wade’s son a few tips
Sports By Ira Winderman Sun Sentinel | Monday, August 6, 2018, 12:05 a.m. Share this story For the moment, Dwyane Wade is putting all business on hold. This week, it will be about love and basketball. As the official ambassador for the event, the Miami Heat’s all-time leading scorer will be in Orlando for the first-ever Jr. NBA World Championship for 13- and 14-year-old boys and girls teams from around the world. The event will be held at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando. ADVERTISING “I only played one year of AAU,” Wade said of the circuits that lead to the college level, and beyond for some. “To say it’s different is not even the right term.” Wade’s appearance comes as he deliberates his future and whether there will be a 16th NBA season and a continuation of the reunion tour with the Heat that began in February. “I enjoyed being around the guys,” he said. … [Read more...] about Dwyane Wade puts business on hold to focus on inaugural Jr. NBA World Championship
It's now August and Dwyane Wade is not yet committed to playing for the Miami Heat next season. So it's officially time to wonder if Wade will ever play for the Heat again, or if instead, he will choose an alternative ending to his career. He's got plenty of options, from shocking the basketball universe and heading to China for a couple years to finish out his playing days to joining LeBron James in Los Angeles to just flat-out retiring. Greedily, Heat fans would prefer to see Wade gracefully end his career in Miami. Yeah, we're biased. Can you blame us? Every day that passes without news of a Wade signing makes another option more and more likely. Let's take a look at the pros and cons of each decision Wade may make in the coming days. Why? Because we're bored. But also, because we're a little worried about what D-Wade really wants to do. 1. Re-sign with Miami and finish his career in a Heat uniform. Pros: Obviously, this is the move. Miami is the only place for Wade to finish … [Read more...] about The Pros and Cons of Five of Dwyane Wade’s Five Best Career Options
MIAMI (AP) — Dwyane Wade’s future remains a mystery. The Miami Heat guard wouldn’t say Monday if he has decided whether to play this season, which would be his 16th in the NBA. His future has been the source of much speculation for several weeks, with retirement a possibility. “In due time,” Wade said. “Time will tell.” Wade briefly addressed the issue while on a call promoting his role as an ambassador for the upcoming Jr. NBA World Championship that starts Aug. 7 in Orlando, Florida. Wade has become heavily involved in youth basketball in recent years, primarily because of his sponsorship of an AAU team and his son Zaire’s involvement on elite-level squads. “This is the purest form of basketball, to be able to be around kids at this age, before it becomes a business,” Wade said. Heat President Pat Riley said last week the team will be patient while awaiting Wade’s decision, with the hope of an answer by mid-August. … [Read more...] about Dwyane Wade still isn’t saying if he will play a 16th season
