Tony Perkins, the pro-life leader who heads the Family Research Council, says there has never been a “better political climate” to roll-back abortion. Speaking to The Daily Caller Friday after the annual March for Life, Perkins noted, “The sun was shining today and we’ve never had better weather for the March for Life; but we’ve also never enjoyed a better political climate to promote pro-life polices.” The reason for the favorable political environment is President Donald Trump, says Perkins. Trump addressed the march via satellite, and on Friday a White House news release entitled “President Donald J. Trump is Standing Up for the Sanctity of Life” explained how the current administration is working to restrict abortion services: “Today, the Department of Health and Human Services is announcing a proposal to revise its conscience regulations to protect President Trump’s promise to enforce Federal conscience and religious … [Read more...] about Pro-Life Leader Says Trump Is Reversing Abortion Policy
Discriminatory attendance policy
Disney CEO Bob Iger, one of the few entertainment industry executives asked to attend President Donald Trump’s policy forum at the White House this week, will not be attending the event. UPDATE: A Disney representative emails to clarify that Iger was unable to attend the policy forum because the White House changed its date from Thursday, February 2nd, to Friday, February 3rd. A Disney Board of Directors meeting had been scheduled for the 3rd long before the forum’s organization. The email states that Iger is still a member of the forum’s committee. In December, President Trump described the policy forum being held at the White House as a meeting of “CEOs and business leaders who know what it takes to create jobs and drive economic growth.” The event was organised by Blackstone chairman Stephen A. Schwarzman and Bob Iger was considered one of the more high profile attendees, but a source has told The Hollywood Reporter that Iger will not be there. Many … [Read more...] about Disney CEO Bob Iger Could Not Attend Business Executive Forum at White House
(CNN) — You might inwardly groan when you board your airplane and realize you’re next to a screaming child, or find yourself squirming when the person next to you takes their shoes and socks off for the duration of the flight. But how would you feel if you ended up sat next to a 70 pound, pot bellied pig? Meet Hamlet the hog, owned by 31-year-old American Megan Peabody, who’s based in the US Virgin Islands. Yes, pigs can fly — because Hamlet’s classified as an emotional support animal, Peabody can bring him into the cabin — at least in the United States — free of charge, to aid her in-air anxieties. “His presence is calming because it is familiar to me,” Peabody tells CNN Travel. “It distracts me from my surroundings when they make me anxious.” Emotional support animals (ESAs) are an increasingly hot topic in the United States, as more and more passengers arrive at the airport with an animal in tow, arguing that a furry … [Read more...] about Should Emotional Support Animals Be Allowed On Board Airplanes?
Among the allegations made in a class action lawsuit against Google filed by former employees James Damore and David Gudeman yesterday is that the company openly discriminates against white males. The complaint filed on behalf of Damore by the Dhillon Law Group provides ample evidence in support of his claims. Screenshots of internal communications provided in the complaint show widespread discriminatory attitudes at Google, including from employees responsible for hiring and promotion. The case summary alleges: Google employs illegal hiring quotas to fill its desired percentages of women and favored minority candidates, and openly shames managers of business units who fail to meet their quotas—in the process, openly denigrating male and Caucasian employees as less favored than others. Not only was the numerical presence of women celebrated at Google solely due to their gender, but the presence of Caucasians and males was mocked with “boos” during companywide … [Read more...] about Damore Lawsuit: Google Internal Communications Reveal Anti-White, Anti-Male Attitudes
With Democrats furious over Donald Trump, and many Republicans furious over the treatment of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, the 2018 elections are likely to see the highest turnout of midterm voters in recent history. But those voters will be confronted by a byzantine array of voter restrictions, voter-suppression efforts, and voter discrimination standing in their way. A review by The Daily Beast found at least five voter-suppression practices in active use today. All are led by Republicans, all have disproportionate effects on non-white populations, and all are rationalized by bogus claims of voter fraud. They include: Closing polling places in communities of color Purging eligible voters from the rolls without their knowledge Barring felons from voting Voter ID laws Eliminating early voting Each one of these alone is troubling. In the aggregate, though, they paint an unmistakable picture of Republican efforts to hold on to power in an increasingly non-white nation by making it harder … [Read more...] about Republicans Have a Secret Weapon in the Midterms: Voter Suppression
