Emily Rosca , Patch Staff Posted Reply OSWEGO, IL — A barn in the 3300 block of Minkler Road in Oswego is "a total loss" after it caught fire early Monday morning, officials said. The KenComm 911 center received a report of the fire just before 4 a.m. from an on-duty Kendall County Sheriff's Office deputy. When firefighters arrived, they found a "fully involved fire" in a barn; the house on the property was untouched, according to the Oswego Fire Protection District. Crews used a defensive attack and were able to bring the fire under control, but the structure was destroyed. Lauren Traut , Patch Staff Posted | Updated Replies NEW LENOX, IL — A New Lenox man was charged with motor vehicle theft and retail theft March 16, three days after police said he stole a car from a Metra lot. Patrick D. Bryant III, 18, was reportedly seen on surveillance footage pulling on handles of car doors in the Metra lot, 300 Church Street, on March 13 around 12:30 p.m. Police said Bryant eventually reached the victim's car, which was unlocked and had a key fob inside the car. Bryant reportedly fled the area in the victim's vehicle. The stolen vehicle was later recovered, unoccupied, following a car accident on I-57 near 107th street, police said. Days later, Bryant was arrested at Walmart in New Lenox, and charged with retail theft and felony motor vehicle theft, according to police. Lana Roemer, who was reported missing from her family's Manhattan home on February 5 , has been found, police said. "I'm relieved to say Lana has been found by the Logansport, Indiana police thanks to a tip someone called in," her father Tim Roemer shared on social media. "If you're reading this whomever you are, I am grateful beyond measure to you." Roemer said Lana was found in Logansport late Thursday night after a tip had been called in to police there. They are also trained in search and rescue and have the right equipment for these situations. In 2018, the fire department purchased a drone to gain aerial perspectives on situations they were called out to. In addition to being an eye in the sky, the drone also has the ability to utilize thermal imaging, which helps to find hot spots and advancing blazes. Amie Schaenzer , Patch Staff Posted Reply MCHENRY, IL — No one was injured when a deck started on fire near McHenry Friday night. The McHenry Township Fire Protection District was called to the blaze in the 2800 block of Stilling Boulevard in unincorporated McHenry at about 10 p.m., according to a news release. Fire crews found a small fire on the rear deck of a bi-level single-family home. Firefighters were able to quickly put the blaze out. No firefighters were injured in the fire. Two people were medically evaluated at the scene but were not transported for treatment, according to the news release. The home and deck sustained minor fire and smoke damage. Oakwood Hills Police Chief Raymond Cordell said the theft crew is burglarizing high-end homes, typically located on golf courses, in McHenry County. Three or four suspects travel around in rented SUVs, usually rented from small or obscure rental companies.
