Mountain lion attacks man soaking in hot tub, Colorado wildlife officials say
A mountain lion snuck up on a man and his wife Saturday night as they were soaking in a hot tub west of Nathrop, Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials said in a release. The two sat in their vacation rental’s tub around 8 p.m., when the man felt something grab his head, CPW spokesman Bill Vogrin said in a release. “He and his wife began screaming and splashing water at the animal,” Vogrin said. The woman grabbed a flashlight and shined it on the lion, which began to back up a bit, Vogrin said. As the couple continued to scream, the lion moved to the top of a nearby hill where it continued to watch the couple, who then left the tub and went back into the Chaffee County house. Inside, the couple cleaned the man’s wounds and called state wildlife officials, who arrived and began searching for the lion, Vogrin said. The man suffered four scratches to the top of his head and near his right ear, he declined any additional medical assistance, Vogrin said. Pay transparency is spreading. Here’s what you need to know
NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. employers are increasingly posting salary ranges for job openings, even in states where it’s not required by law, according to analysts with several major job search websites. Following new legislation in New York City, California, Washington, Colorado, and elsewhere, employers across the country are becoming more transparent about pay in order to stay competitive with companies in states that require employers to post salary ranges, experts say. The number of U.S. job postings that include salary information more than doubled between February 2020 and February 2023, from 18.4% to 43.7%, according to a new report from job search site Indeed. Salary visibility is lowest in the southern U.S., which accounted for 18 of the 20 least transparent metro areas, and highest in the western part of the country, which tends to have more regulation. Advocates say it’s a … [Read more...] about Pay transparency is spreading. Here’s what you need to know

U.S., in Reversal, Issues Permit for Keystone Oil Pipeline
HOUSTON — During his presidential campaign, Donald J. Trump repeatedly hailed the Keystone XL pipeline as a vital jobs program and one that sharply contrasted his vision for the economy with that of Hillary Clinton. “Today we begin to make things right,” President Trump said Friday morning shortly after the State Department granted the pipeline giant TransCanada a permit for Keystone construction, a reversal of Obama administration policy. The pipeline would link oil producers in Canada and North Dakota with refiners and export terminals on the Gulf Coast. It has long been an object of contention, with environmentalists saying it would contribute to climate change and the project’s proponents — Republicans, some labor unions and the oil industry — contending that it would help guarantee national energy security for decades to come. When President Barack Obama rejected the project in late 2015, he said it would undermine American leadership in curbing reliance on carbon fuels. … [Read more...] about U.S., in Reversal, Issues Permit for Keystone Oil Pipeline
