Ron DeSantis: FL Served as ‘America’s West Berlin’ During the Pandemic
Florida essentially served as “America’s West Berlin” during the Chinese coronavirus pandemic, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) said during a recent interview with The Florida Standard. “During COVID, when people would come in from California or New York, they would say that it was like being in a different country,” DeSantis said, as Florida refused to embrace extended lockdowns and never put a statewide mask mandate in place. “We really served as America’s West Berlin in many respects that if they could just get out of where they were, they could just get to Florida,” he said. “Not only would they be free, but they would be happy.” “And that’s the number one thing I think people would say when they came here, like people in Florida are happy and they’re not, weren’t used to that because they really ground society down,” he continued: And I think one of the reasons we did what we did in terms of keeping people employed businesses and all that was like, yes, if businesses on some … [Read more...] about Ron DeSantis: FL Served as ‘America’s West Berlin’ During the Pandemic

Give and take: West gives Ukraine weapons, bans Russian coal
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 18 KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — On a day of give and take, Western nations made more pledges to send arms to Ukraine while the European Union's full ban on Russian coal imports kicked in Thursday amid intelligence claims that sanctions against Moscow were hurting its defense exports. Germany, seen early in Russia's invasion as a lackadaisical Ukrainian ally, is making what Chancellor Olaf Scholz described as a “massive” break with its past by sending weapons to the war-ravaged country. Scholz said Germany "is shipping arms — a great, great many, sweeping and very effective. And we will continue to do so in the coming time.” His government has approved military exports of at least $710 million and plans to provide further financial aid to Ukraine, the chancellor said. In Copenhagen, Britain and … [Read more...] about Give and take: West gives Ukraine weapons, bans Russian coal
Scott Peterson’s attorneys argue for new trial in murders of wife Laci Peterson and unborn son
close Video A Judge will announce his decision on if Scott Peterson will get a new trial NEW You can now listen to Fox News articles! Scott Peterson appeared in a California court on Thursday for prosecutors and attorneys to argue their respective cases over whether the convicted killer deserves a new trial in the 2002 murders of his wife and unborn son. Peterson, now 49, wore a blue coronavirus face mask, handcuffs and dark orange, jail-issued clothing for the Thursday morning hearing in connection to the potential for a retrial in the 20-year-old case that sent shockwaves through the nation: the slayings of his wife, Laci, and their unborn child, Conner. The hearing stemmed from defense attorneys' argument that juror Richelle Nice was biased. I will be … [Read more...] about Scott Peterson’s attorneys argue for new trial in murders of wife Laci Peterson and unborn son
