Mark Hand , Patch Staff Posted Reply NORTH BETHESDA, MD — The Pike District Partnership’s free concert series kicks off Thursday with a performance by the Timmie Metz Duo in a pop-up park at Grand Park Avenue and Banneker Street in North Bethesda. The concert will take place on Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and continue for nine consecutive weeks. The Pike District Partnership also will be hosting a Friday Night Salsa on Friday, June 30 from 6 p.m. to p.m. at Banneker Street Pop-up Park, an event that will continue on the last Friday of each month through September. The Thursday Summer Nights festivities include a dog walk, a swing band and magic shows, with refreshments and food trucks onsite. Each event will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. June 8 On June 8, Shout Section Big Band will play live swing music in the facility's Tank Park. Guests can also snap vintage photos in a 1940s-inspired photo booth. June 15 Pooches are welcome to strut their scruff during Cantigny's Bark in the Park event. On a fall evening in 2017, Dr. Ross Martin Uhrich headed to a bar in Washington to meet a woman he had matched with on Bumble. He had low expectations. So low, in fact, that he put the ingredients for a chicken stew in his slow cooker and set a timer for two and a half hours. He planned to return home early, eat dinner, and go straight to bed — he had to be up at 4 a.m. for his surgical residency. When he arrived at Barcelona Wine Bar, he saw Jessica Carter Altman and threw his plans out the window. “I just said I’m going to let the night take me where it’s going to take me,” Dr. Uhrich said.
