Former Chicago Bears quarterback Jim Miller is another who believes openly gay players never will be welcomed in NFL locker rooms — and he lists religion as the prime reason. "There are some religions that are just not going to accept a gay individual in the locker room," Miller said Tuesday on WSCR-AM 670 in Chicago. "So now, are you as an organization going to bring that element into your locker room and think everything is going to be OK? "Last time I checked, whether it's Christianity or Muslims or other religions that are out there, they're just not going to accept it. They're just not. It's just not realistic for…any progressive or liberal to think that everything is going to be OK in the locker room and we should all just wise up and accept it." Miller, who hosts the Bears postgame show on CSN-Chicago among other media assignments, also was asked if he believes an openly gay teammate should be accepted by other players. "I could care less," he said. "You can play … [Read more...] about Former Chicago Bears quarterback Jim Miller says religion is road block for acceptance of gay players in NFL

CANTON, Ohio -- The Baltimore Ravens and the Chicago Bears open the NFL's preseason Thursday night in the Hall of Fame Game, and while both teams will likely rest most of their starters, the contest carries more intrigue than a usual early August exhibition. Lamar Jackson, the Ravens' rookie quarterback, is the main attraction. Baltimore selected the 2016 Heisman Trophy with the 32nd overall pick in April's draft in a move that sent shockwaves across the league. Joe Flacco remains the Ravens' starter, but perhaps Jackson could be the future. Here are the game's key details and a look at what to expect from Jackson Beyond that, Baltimore has a deep cast of young players, such as first-round rookie tight end Hayden Hurst and offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr., who'll command attention … [Read more...] about Baltimore Ravens vs. Chicago Bears in Hall of Fame Game: Updates, stats, chatter and more
After a right shoulder injury sidelined Mitch Trubisky in the past two games, the Bears are optimistic he'll return Sunday night vs. the Los Angeles Rams in a marquee battle of division leaders."I feel strongly that he will play," Bears coach Matt Nagy said Wednesday before his team hit the practice field for the first time in Week 14. "But I have to see more (in practice)."Trubisky was injured on an awkward landing and subsequent late hit by Vikings S Harrison Smith on Nov. 18. After sitting out the Bears' walk-throughs during a truncated Week 12, he was listed as a limited participant in all three sessions last week but didn't throw until Friday and before Sunday's game, for which he was deemed doubtful before sitting out."I do (expect to play)," Trubisky told reporters Wednesday. "I just have to show coach Nagy I can play."The Bears are 1-1 in Trubisky's absence, with backup QB Chase Daniel performing well in the victory in Detroit on Thanksgiving and struggling mightily in Sunday's … [Read more...] about Matt Nagy ‘feels strongly’ that Chicago Bears QB Mitch Trubisky will play vs. Rams
Talk about having to rebound. Sunday evening: Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio was in the Solider Field coach’s box as the Philadelphia Eagles scored a touchdown on fourth down and then partially blocked a field-goal attempt for a 16-15 playoff win. Monday morning: Fangio was interviewed by the Broncos for their head-coaching job. Eight days into the search to replace Vance Joseph, the Broncos have completed five interviews: Former Indianapolis coach Chuck Pagano, Los Angeles Rams quarterbacks coach Zac Taylor, Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line coach Mike Munchak, New England Patriots linebackers coach/play-caller Brian Flores and Fangio. The Broncos have not been linked to any other candidates so it is conceivable they could have second interviews (if necessary) and a hiring made by the end of the week. Fangio, 60, has not been a head coach at any level, but does have 32 years of NFL experience, including 19 as a defensive coordinator. “Everybody in the … [Read more...] about Broncos coaching search: Chicago Bears assistant Vic Fangio fifth candidate to meet with Denver
