LONDON - Less than a month before a pivotal election in Britain, an American businesswoman who says she once had a "very special relationship" with Prime Minister Boris Johnson is making the media rounds asserting that Johnson has fed her "to the wolves" while ghosting her like "some fleeting one-night stand." Jennifer Arcuri has been coy about defining her relationship with Johnson when he was London mayor and married to his second wife. Pressed repeatedly about it Monday on "Good Morning Britain," Arcuri said she would not "be pressured into admitting" anything. But British authorities are looking into accusations that she received undue advantages because of her association with Johnson, including $160,000 in grants and contracts from the city of London and participation in three trade missions abroad as part of Johnson's entourage. Johnson has denied any misconduct, saying everything had been done "with full propriety," and that he there was "no interest to declare" over his links … [Read more...] about Can Boris Johnson be hurt by the accusations of Jennifer Arcuri?

Michael Wolff’s Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House has its flaws. Wolff, historically, has seemed more comfortable writing things that are interesting than things that are all-the-way true. His book chronicling the first year of the Trump White House reads like Steve Bannon provided a disproportionate amount of the fodder that made it into the final copy. It’s probably going to be optioned into a movie that I’ll eventually have to watch for work, because Trumpworld is infecting every aspect of American culture in a way that feels ineradicable. But nobody can say Fire and Fury lacks female characters. In one anecdote from the beginning of the Trump presidency, a “harried” Ivanka Trump was heard loudly telling whoever was on the other end of a phone call that “things are so messed up and I don’t know how to fix it….” She then makes her way through a networking breakfast at the Four Seasons Hotel. This seems to define how … [Read more...] about What Kind of Woman Works for Donald Trump?

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump on Monday forcefully condemned white supremacy in the wake of twin mass shootings over the weekend, citing the threat of “racist hate” and calling for national unity in devising a response. “In one voice our nation must condemn racism, bigotry and white supremacy,” Trump said. But Trump stopped well short of supporting the kind of broad gun control measures that activists and Democrats have sought for years, instead calling for stronger action to address mental illness, violence in the media and in video games, as well as “the perils of the internet and social media.” Speaking at a lectern beneath a portrait of George Washington in the White House Diplomatic Reception Room, Trump read from a prepared script on a teleprompter. “These barbaric slaughters are an assault upon our communities, an attack upon our nation and a crime against all of humanity,” Trump said. Trump took no questions and did … [Read more...] about Trump Condemns White Supremacy but Doesn’t Propose Gun Laws After Shootings
