Everyone’s looking at something in the trailer for Andor . What could it be? Whatever it is, it’s not Diego Luna ’s Cassian Andor. As Lucasfilm continues its massive celebration of Star Wars a day after the original film’s 45th anniversary, having already dropped a trailer for Willow , the company also debuted the very first look at another upcoming series. Following Friday's Disney+ release of Obi-Wan Kenobi comes Andor , which unpacks the underdog story of Luna’s character before the events of Rogue One . But it’s almost an entire minute—half the trailer—until we finally see Andor’s big return. After that, radio silence from the titular character. Seriously. When we get trailers of Obi-Wan or Willow , we get big, sweeping shots of the returning key roles. But Diego Luna is nowhere to be found in this first look, which offers more of Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly) instead. Give us more Diego Luna, Disney+! Alas, we’ll have to work … [Read more...] about Star Wars Spinoff ‘Andor’ Debuts a Trailer With Nearly No Footage of Andor

The Jan. 6 hearings and the spectacle of competence
Every day, from the left and the right and all corners of America, there are reminders that the government is broken. Stagnant, inadequate, wasteful, useless. Whether the issues we face are urgent and emotional (school shootings) or slow but existential (climate change), the extreme polarization and contortionate priorities of our political system, especially on the national level, feel practically designed to discourage hope and change. Then, a reprieve. The televised Jan. 6 hearings - the fifth of which will air Thursday, followed by at least two more sessions next month - have offered a rare glimpse of administrative credibility, a spectacle of civic competence. America doesn't have to be a post-truth dumpster fire sinking into largely self-inflicted imperial decline, imply the hearings, which are led by Chairman Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., and Vice Chair Liz Cheney, R-Wyo. The values and attributes we want from our leaders - intelligence and empathy in service of integrity, … [Read more...] about The Jan. 6 hearings and the spectacle of competence
Stanford Cancels Classes, Will Remain ‘In The Dark’ For Days To Come
0 Schools Classes are cancelled and employees are encouraged to work from home. Stanford Daily , News Partner Posted Reply By Kyla Figueroa, The Stanford Daily June 22, 2022 Stanford has canceled summer session classes for Thursday and Friday and is encouraging employees to work from home amid an ongoing power outage that has halted life on the Farm. The timeline for restoring power to the University will likely be 2-3 days as the University waits for PG&E to fix a downed transmission line. Though PG&E has not provided a concrete timeline for the restoration, the University made the class cancellation decision citing the "increasing possibility of a multiple-day disruption and the time required to re-start classrooms and equipment even once power is restored," according to a AlertSU sent to the community on Wednesday evening. The power failure, which began yesterday following local fire damage in the PG&E … [Read more...] about Stanford Cancels Classes, Will Remain ‘In The Dark’ For Days To Come
Netflix’s ‘Money Heist: Korea’ Is ‘Squid Game’ Meets a Cheesy Heist Movie
As casual viewers and dedicated binge-watchers alike know, there’s simply too much TV these days —both in terms of the number of shows, and the length of their copious installments . On the heels of Stranger Things’ bloated fourth season, that overabundance is now also seen via Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area , a spin-off of Álex Pina’s hit Spanish crime series whose six Season 1 episodes all clock in at over an hour, and three of which top a whopping 70 minutes. As is so often the case with modern small-screen affairs, more is definitely not better, with a lack of concision leading to wheel-spinning detours and unnecessary subplots. More troubling for director Kim Hong-sun’s thriller, however, is the same thing that plagues Pina’s popular original: a surplus of cheesiness. Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area sets its action in a 2026 in which North and South Korea have put aside their differences and agreed to unify. The first step in that process is the … [Read more...] about Netflix’s ‘Money Heist: Korea’ Is ‘Squid Game’ Meets a Cheesy Heist Movie
Believe It or Not, ‘Westworld’ Season 4 Is Worth Watching Again
Well over a year has passed since the Season 3 finale of Westworld aired, which seemed to be despised by both critics and the show’s fans. Writing and production for Season 4 were held up by the COVID-19 pandemic, and it turns out that a lengthy gap can be a good thing. The polarizing drama about cowboys, robots, and free will is finally good again. Even the handful of flaws in the first four episodes HBO made available to critics, while irritating, don’t distract from that familiar one-two punch of puzzlement and shock. I began watching Westworld during the pandemic. After bingeing the first three seasons in less than a week, I was more invested in the lives of Maeve ( Thandiwe Newton ), Dolores ( Evan Rachel Wood ), and Caleb (Aaron Pau l) than my own. Season 3 ended with Caleb and Maeve erasing Rehoboam, the artificial intelligence system built by the Serac brothers to identify and prevent high-risk individuals from harming humanity. Bernard ( Jeffrey Wright … [Read more...] about Believe It or Not, ‘Westworld’ Season 4 Is Worth Watching Again
South Africa Mystery: At Least 21 Children Aged 13-17 Found Dead at Pub
Government officials in South Africa’s Eastern Cape province said at least 21 teenagers were “ found dead” at a bar on Sunday morning under unclear circumstances, South Africa’s DispatchLive reported, noting that while the cause of the deaths remains unknown, some have speculated that the youths may have been “exposed to some form of poison.” DispatchLive said it sent reporters to Enyobeni Tavern in the early morning hours of June 26 after learning that locals had requested “ambulance assistance” at the pub, which is located in the Eastern Cape suburb of Scenery Park. “At the tavern, bodies are lying strewn across tables, chairs and on the floor; with no obvious signs of injury,” DispatchLive relayed. Eastern Cape’s provincial government told reporters later on Sunday that “eight girls and 13 boys had died at the tavern.
