Although the Bay Area is experiencing a dramatic increase in coronavirus cases, Swartzberg said the region is faring better than the rest of the state. He said the virus is spreading at much lower rates in the Bay Area and hospitals still have beds, medical staff and ICU facilities available to serve people with new cases of the coronavirus.
