Kolcharno, 47, is charged with four counts of promoting prostitution after an investigation found he took advantage of his clients' legal and financial troubles, tethering "his performance as their counsel to a demand for sexual services from them or in exchange for payment," police wrote in an affidavit. U.S. faces mounting pressure to do more to help Cuba fight a deadly blaze at an oil facility
At least one senior Cuban government official has expressed frustration over the lack of support offered by the United States to help extinguish a deadly fire that began Friday at a large oil storage facility in Matanzas, causing several explosions and sending a toxic cloud of smoke that has spread more than 65 miles. One firefighter died due to an explosion at a second tank Saturday and, according to government reports, 14 firefighters are missing. Around 125 people have been injured. The U.S. has offered Cuba technical assistance over the phone but no material support. "So far US offered a phone number to an emergency local authority. Seven-out-of-ten Republicans favor reduced illegal and legal immigration, and GOP voters are evenly split over whether immigration is good or bad for the nation, according to a new Gallup poll. “Republicans’ Desire for Less Immigration Has Surged Since 2020 … The mounting desire for decreased immigration in recent years has been driven mainly by Republicans, whose preference for reducing immigration is [at 69 percent,] up 21 points since June 2020, when 48% expressed this,” Gallup reported on August 8 .
