SF could compel more severely mentally ill people into treatment under law
San Francisco could compel more severely mentally ill people into treatment under a bill signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom Wednesday. The state law, written by state Sen. Scott Wiener, D-San Francisco, will immediately allow the city to expand conservatorship, which is court-ordered mental health treatment. The expansion will apply to those who are severely mentally ill, addicted to drugs and have been taken to an emergency crisis unit, known as a 5150 hold, at least eight times in a year. Trump impeachment vote: Takeaways from House Judiciary Committee’s debate
WASHINGTON — Takeaways from the House Judiciary Committee’s debate on two articles of impeachment against President Trump: GOP: Coastal elites want to overturn election Republican lawmakers started the debate Wednesday night by hauling a sign reading, “Coastal Impeachment Squad,” onto their side of the committee dais. The sign featured a photo of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-San Francisco, and her top committee chairs unveiling the articles against Trump. Jim Jordan of Ohio. “The Democrats have never accepted the will of the people. ... It’s not just because … [Read more...] about Trump impeachment vote: Takeaways from House Judiciary Committee’s debate
