Rep. Adam Schiff, who played a starring role in the impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump, confirmed Thursday he will seek the California Senate seat held by Sen. Dianne Feinstein, his longtime ally. Feinstein’s term ends in 2024, and she has not yet announced whether she plans to seek re-election. She would be 91 on Election Day. Questions about her mental acuity have followed her for more than two years, and her Democratic colleagues told The Chronicle in April 2022 that they believe her memory issues are hindering her ability to do the job. Feinstein told the Los Angeles Times in December that she plans to finish her term, and will announce whether she will run again “probably by spring.” She told Raw Story Wednesday that she doesn’t plan to announce her decision until 2024. When asked about others running for her seat, she said, “oh, I don’t mind it....
