Dylan Siwicki , Patch Staff Posted | Updated Reply WESTLAND, MI — A man was arrested Wednesday morning after police said he fatally shot his girlfriend and then barricaded himself inside a Westland trailer for more than eight hours , according to Westland Police. Police found 41-year-old Tabitha Cornwall shot to death in a Jeep Grand Cherokee at a mobile home park on Glenwood Road near Wayne Road around 1 a.m., police said. Police believe she was trying to get away from her boyfriend after a domestic dispute, police said. Police then surrounded the mobile home park with a SWAT team, leading to a standoff for more than eight hours before officers arrested the man, police said. This is a developing story. State officials waived all fishing license fees for Saturday and Sunday (June 11 and June 12), as part of the "Three Free" weekend, where residents and nonresidents can grab a fishing rod. All fishing regulations will still apply. In addition, a Recreation Passport will not be required to enter into state parks and boating access sites during the free weekend. You can also ride Michigan's off-road trails for free as state officials will not require an ORV license or trail permit this weekend. All other ORV rules and laws still apply.
